A tale of three punctures We did 8km of this trail from the Mullingar side recently, hiring bikes at Outdoor Escape bike shop near an entrance to the trail (recommended). We originally tried the Mullingar Bike Hire place as we had spotted on Tripadvisor that...More

Apart from being comfortable for cycling with small children, not much to see or do. Old stations nicely decorated.

Streamstown is located along the cycle track, half way between Mullingar and Athlone. Great efforts have been made to encourage people to take a pit stop, including the planting of an apple orchard, old farm machinery laid out, and a clever table and chairs made...More

Took the train from Dublin to Athlone and cycled from Athlone to Mullingar (approx. 42k). Pros: Excellent flat traffic free route. Km's well signposted showing how far from Athlone/to Mullingar. Some well preserved train stations from the old railway enroute. Cons: Bland and uninteresting. No...More
