We went a walk around Roscommon and found our way to the park and then the castle. There's an interesting board near to it explaining all about the history of the castle. You can walk inside the ruin and imagine how it was in centuries...More

I love castle ruins and Roscommon Castle was very neat! I was afraid at first we wouldn't be able to get near it but there are steps accessible from the nearby park to actually go inside the walls. I'd very much so classify it more...More

Great place to visit. Go to the Roscommon County Museum and ask staff about a tour of the castle. Two great points of discussion is the murder hole and the bird carving. Loved the history.

Just a five minutes walk north of the town is a pretty park with the ruins of the castle in one corner. It's open to the public and free of charge. It's a five minute visit plus a stroll round the pond but rather pleasant...More

These castle ruins are well worth checking out in the lovely peaceful surroundings of the beautiful park. Entry is free of charge and it's a great location to get some really cool pictures and read up on a bit of history.

While in Roscommon, we headed over to the very imposing Roscommon Castle in the heart of town. What we found to be serene on a brilliant, sunny June night, was in fact, over the centuries, home to many a siege. The Normans built the castle...More
