Welcome to our TripAdvisor page. I am Oliver Walsh and for the past 15 years I have welcomed visitors from all over the world to Flowerhill Equestrian Centre in Co Galway, Ireland. Visitors come for the hospitality, willing and fit horses, extensive cross country horseback riding facilities and relaxed and happy atmosphere. Flowerhill is based in 250 acres of beautiful east Galway country side. We are surrounded by the best possible cross country horse riding land - green fields, woods, the Kilcrow river, and wonderful wildlife. You can gallop across open fields, swim through the lake and splash in the Kilcrow river, scaring away the fish as you go. Our fences are a mixture of natural logs, stone walls, ditches and a variety of man made obstacles, including giant bananas! Most of the 150 fences include 2 or more options, so whether you are a nervous novice or confident competitor, we will cater for your needs. The riding standard varies from novice cross sountry, through intermediate, right up to advanced open. All riders need to be confident at walk trot and canter, therefore Flowerhil is not for the absolute beginner.Ride with us by the hour, a full day of 2 or 3 rides per day, or stay with us and chill out for a week or more. Rides usually go out daily at 10.00am and 1.30pm, and we change the rides to suit our customers needs. Horse riding variations include show jumping and dressage tuition, cross country workshops, exercising the hounds and hacking down to the local pub, where there are stabling facilities while we enjoy a pint and toasted sandwich. Private cross country or show jumping clinics for an individual rider can also be arranged. Over the years many of customers return again and again to enjoy the fun.

Flowerhill was a nice place. Good horses, Oliver was a funny guy, and loots of crosscountry fences. The Girls/instructors riding with us was a bit grumpy.

If you are looking for an awesome riding experience Flowerhill is the place to be! Oliver Walsh is truly an amazing horseman and it shows through in Flowerhill. The cross country course is second to mom and his horses are world class! What a fantastic place to go on a riding holiday or even for day out for a ride.

Flowerhill is a great place for boosting your confidence if you are a bit of a nervous rider and a great fun if you're a confident one. Don't expect lessons, expect great cross-country jumps, wonderful big responsive horses, and a great laugh! I looked like a much better rider than I actually am thanks to the horses. Oliver and the... More

Nice horses, nice people, nice place. Without any worry at all, they'll have you jumping things on your first ride out that you'd never have jumped yourself. If you're a weekend rider, as I am, and you want to learn to jump cross-country, this is the place to do it. Don't expect to be cossetted or pampered. You might be... More

Best cross country around (maybe in the country) because it is well maintained, fences moved, etc and there are options for all levels. Staff and owners are all very knowledgeable and the horses are well schooled and suitable for a safe fun trip around the xcountry course. Well worth a visit.

I had last minute plans to visit Ireland in mid-November traveling from the U.S. I decided to try cross country riding for the first time ever. The horses were sturdy, willing and athletic which made it easy for me. Rain or shine I enjoyed the rides. I took it a day at a time and ended up riding cross country... More

Flowerhill was absolutely gorgeous! Oliver is so knowledgeable and really knows how to match you with the right horse. I loved the horse that I rode while I was there, and had the confidence to jump cross country obstacles that I didn't think I would! Wonderful facility and horses, everything is clean and organized. Can't recommend Flowerhill enough!

I'm just back from a weekend in Flowerhill with a few friends and it was amazing. We did 3 cross country rides and a mini hunt across Sat & Sun. Oliver (the owner) is an absolute legend and runs a great yard. The horses are excellent and the cross country facilities are top class. We stayed in the main house... More

Our group keeps coming back to Flowerhill. We´ve been to lots of places around the globe to ride but this place is truly unique. Every single horse we have ridden here is superb, perfectly suited to the abilities and temperament (or nervousness) of each rider. At Flowerhill I always learn more about jumping in a few days than I do... More
