Had wanted to do something different today and due to the weather preferred to be indoors. Had saw the leaflet for the railway in the house we'd rented for a few days. Have to say it was a enjoyable afternoon. A leisurely trip along the side of the lough, with some insight into the history side of it. As for... More

The railway runs right alongside Lough Finn for some 4 km through stunning scenery, using an original County Donegal Railbus, recalling travel in the 1950s. Very friendly & helpful staff - the young child who was introduced to them as a "train fanatic" had a very special day. Well worth the effort of going there - it won't come to... More

Booked this train journey at their office for my wife and I and asked the lady for some information on the train's history, little or no information was forthcoming, this should have been a warning of what was to come. The train had two male drivers front and rear and a female ticket inspector who duly handed us a leaflet with some... More

€24 for 2 adults and 2 young kids. Daylight robbery. I passed by this place dozens of times on my way to work and kept telling my family we would go one day. Well the day came and went and we were very disappointed. Staff have no social skills and its all about money and nothing else, A smile would... More

The Fintown Railway (aka An Mhuc Druhb) is a short section of the narrow gauge County Donegal Railways network that closed in 1959. It runs through beautiful country alongside Lough Finn. It's quite a small operation with a single diesel railcar (a bit like an old bus on rails) as the passenger accommodation. It may not look too impressive but... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Railway at Fintown. The scenery was spectacular and the Staff were fantastic. Would definitely recommend a trip. I wish more was being done to keep these old railway lines alive around the country they are such a wonderful asset for tourism in an area.

We stopped off here for a ride on the old railcar, train services don't exist anymore in Donegal unfortunately, so its a nice treat to go back in time on the railway when in Donegal, there is a lovely lake along which you ride, great fun for young children, the staff are super, they really bring it to life, great commentary,... Very nice and enjoyable journey on an old train. The scenery was beautiful, along the edge of a lake.
