Two friends and I did a four day photography tour of the Iceland landscape with photographer guide Páll Jökull. Our experience was excellent. He provided a four-wheel drive vehicle that was perfect for the four of us - including him, a fifth would have been tight - when travelling on the rugged dirt roads of the interior highlands. He has guided such tours for many years, and knows the landscape and how best to photograph it. He has published a book of his photography, with suggestions on gear and clothing, available on his website where you can also see his photography and the kind of trips he does. I highly recommend him.

What an adventure! Páll was an incredible tour guide. Not only is he able to see Iceland through a photographers lens, but he has deep knowledge of its history and geography. My wife and I booked a short 3 day excursion and while we saw some of the popular tourist sights, he also took us to some hidden gems not on your standard bus tours. He had great knowledge of the camera we rented as well and even gave us some photography tips to ensure our pictures turned out remarkable.
Weather wasn't completely on our side as it was cloudy and rainy for the entire 3 days. He was flexible enough to pivot and adjust our trip around the conditions to ensure we got the best experience.
Páll was kind, personable, and genuine. At the end of our trek, I felt like I had made a friend. Three days was not even remotely enough time to see all of the wonders Iceland has to offer. So we'll be back soon Páll. . .guaranteed!

Thank you for your kind words. We had a good time out there photographing, up in the mountains where not many tourists venture and some more touristic locations. The autumn colours were great, some of the photos from this tour are excellent, and the memorable moments of complete silence up in the mountains!
It was wonderful to get to know you guys, and I agree that I made new friends in you on this trip. Looking forward to seeing you again in Iceland one day :-)

Two years ago I booked a tour with Páll Jӧkull. It was wonderful. Now in 2021 I am returning for a 6 day tour of East Iceland. This region of the island has spectacular landscapes and deep gorges that really show off the geological character and beauty of this land. I am a professional photographer who appreciates the landscape and Páll, to me, is the most genuine professional guide that I have encountered. I have been with him on a multi-day tour, so returning for a second was on my bucket list. If you have a camera and want to experience some adventure with it, and return with photos of a lifetime then contact Páll to book East Iceland in August. You do not need to be a professional to get the most from this tour. You will capture memorable images and share valuable face-time with a known Icelandic professional landscape photographer. You will only need to manage your daily meals. Everything else is included in the tour price. Páll will arrange all accommodations and transportation during the tour.

We booked a Northern Lights photography tour on our first day in Reykjavik prior to embarking on our Ring Road adventure. Unfortunately, it was very cloudy and raining all day. Páll was consistently in correspondence and transparent that we wouldn't be able to see the Lights, so we rescheduled the tour when we returned to Reykjavik 9 days later. We gathered that conditions would need to be *just* perfect to see the Lights, so we didn't expect too much for rainy season. Lucky for us, Mt Fagradalsfjall had become active again the day after we arrived! Páll was incredibly flexible and open to changing the plans to see the volcano since it was raining again on our last day. We were VERY grateful for Páll's expertise and knowledge of the terrain on a rainy night. It was an incredible sight!! Thank you, Páll, for your photo tips, responsiveness, and flexibility! We had an amazing time!

Thank you for your kind words! Yes, we had a good trip/hike to see the volcano, even though the conditions were not the best, not to say more :-) But it was fun, and amazing to see the lava flowing down the hill in front of us in the dark. I am glad that I was able to help you that night :-)

When we visited Iceland for the first time in 2018, I found Páll on Facebook as my inspiration for best places and pictures of Iceland and since then the idea of wedding photos in Iceland lived in my head. I sent him message year prior to our wedding to ask if he would be able to take our pictures, but in the way that he would be taking pictures of beautiful nature of Iceland and us in it. When the time came, we spent 2 wonderful day with Páll and we enjoyed every minute of it, not just the pictures we received are just unique and gorgeous, but the time we spent with him was just brilliant! He answer all of our questions, showing us special places which we didn't even know they existed, he took us on Aurora hunt which became night we will never forget.
And to see him how excited he was to see the Northern lights after living his whole life in Iceland was just so heartwarming as you could see how much he loves his country and the work he is doing. He will be always part of our special day as he is in every picture, just behind the camera.
Thank you so much Páll from both of us, we hope we will meet again.

This was our second time having Páll as our photo guide in Iceland. The first one was in the summer of 2017, and though it was an one-day tour, we were impressed with his knowledge of photography and awe inspiring locations. Fast forward to January 2023, we’re back in Iceland and took his Winter Photo Tour. Traveling for 5 days in his large Land Cruiser was comfortable and safe. We saw all the best of southern Iceland’s locations and then some.
Páll also showed us the ideal camera menu settings because we had the same Sony model. He helped us refine the use of wide angle lenses balancing the foreground and background for better compositions. And the highlight of the tour was the breathtaking ice caves.
We highly recommend ANY photo tour with Páll!

Hello my friends. It was great to see you again here in Iceland! I am glad that you enjoyed our trip, all kinds of weather and conditions made it an unforgettable adventure :-) Yes, the Ice-caves were amazing, as always and we were lucky with the good conditions there.

We had a 4 day tour with Pall with my sister as well and had the most amazing time. From the stunning locations to the knowledge we were in safe hands in our private tour. From our initial contact, Pall was nothing but brilliant. We (myself and husband) are pro photographers so we really wanted to get to some of the most beautiful locations, whist praying for some auroral activity. While no one can promise that, we did venture out a few nights that looked promising with success. Nothing was ever too hard and we sure had some laughs along the way. I would absolutely recommend Pall to anyone visiting Iceland. He will be my first call when we go back.

Friends and I spent a week with Páll on a photographic workshop. Iceland is amazing and Páll showed us the best of it. He is a great photographic instructor and guide. We saw improvement with our photos as the week progressed thanks to his help. I recommend Páll Jökull Highly and can’t wait to return for another workshop with him.

This was one of the best experiences of my life, hands down. So much beauty, from start to finish. Páll is not only a patient & incredible photographer, but he is a kind & wonderful person. Where to start? This was the best photo trip of my life & I’ve been on several. Pall is an incredible guide, great teacher, spectacular photographer, and above all, a kind and generous person. We saw a wide variety of landscapes and, guided by his thoughtful advice, saw my landscape compositions improve.
While there are many different people you could tour with, I would unhesitatingly choose Páll again. How’s your guides have a great-great grandfather who has a mountain named after them?? His depth of knowledge and deep connection with the land make him an indispensable resource.
Páll will always be the embodiment of Iceland for me and I will most certainly return for another trip with him!!

Thank you for joining my photo tour, it is always a pleasure to be around people who are enthusiastic and curious about the nature and open to new experiences. I totally enjoyed the company of everyone in this small group, and a small group also makes it easier to get to know everyone on the tour.

Thanks for your inquiry about a photo shoot.
The price for a package like this would be 950 USD. It is a whole day process, getting to a location, shooting and getting back. The daylight at this time of year is short, only 5-6 hours at the most, and we do have a chance of northern lights.
Weather is unpredictable in the middle of winter, it can be rain, snow, frost and storm or none of that.
