In Fridheimar farm we create a pleasant Food Experience where lunch is enjoyed among the tomato plants.

We also offer a Greenhouse visit where guests are informed how Icelanders are able to grow vegetables the whole year around with help from the nature.

A Horse show is available where the history and gates of the Icelandic horse is introduced in a light and professional way in a nice environment. After the show our guests are welcome to the stable where they can meet the horses, take pictures and talk to the riders.

This is a perfect entertainment for all age groups and specially people that are curios about family farm life in Iceland.

Greenhouse visit and horse show need to be booked in advance

We really enjoyed our visit here. It was interesting to hear about how the greenhouses developed, and we liked hearing all the details of the pieces put together, like getting the bumblebees from Holland and design advice from Finland. It was fun to see all the tomato plants, and we especially liked the chance to buy some tomato products. We... More

Iceland is known for using hydrothermal energy to power their greenhouses. Farmers in Iceland began pioneering this technology in the 1930's. So it was interesting to be a small part of this approach to farming. The restaurant is fairly large, and it is on the bus tour route, so reservations are important. It was full when we visited in March.... More

As part of our Golden Circle Tour by Island Tours/Terra Nova, we were able to spend a bit of time learning about this unique greenhouse horticulture facility. We were given a short informative talk on the subject, a nice tour of the greenhouse operation growing tomatoes. We were even given a taste of these delicious tomatoes, a chance to buy... More

I stopped here on my self-driven Golden Circle tour for lunch. I didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat me after about 15 minutes, although it was early afternoon so I may have missed the lunch crowds. The greenhouse is beautiful and nice to walk around. I had the tomato soup/homemade bread bar - it was delicious.... More

We stopped here at the end of our Golden Circle drive and it was the perfect end to the day. The staff are friendly and informative, the atmosphere is gorgeous and the food is wonderful. Our group especially loved the massive bread bar and the basil plants on each table top. It is definitely worth calling ahead to make a... More

Stopped to see greenhouse, had a bowl of tomato soup and delicious homemade bread. After lunch, visited their Icelandic horses and watched a demonstration of the horses' 5 different gaits. Fun outing for the entire family!

The owner introduced himself and gave us a short but interesting history of his amazing tomato farm and restaurant/cafe serving soup with homemade breads and 2 alternative tomato dishes, desserts and drinks. A great stop for lunch after bathing in the Secret lagoon at Fludir nearby (by car).

We arrived at this restaurant/geothermal tomato farm right as the sun was coming up and the snow was setting in. The farm looked absolutely majestic (there were some horse lessons going on outside), and the quick informational tour was just the right amount of time before we got to partake in homemade bread and the freshest bloody marys my husband... We stopped here for a late lunch while driving the Golden Circle. We had the Healthy Mary drink with the unlimited tomato soup and bread bar -- which was excellent. We had the tomato ice-cream for dessert -- highly recommend! We even bought some treats in their shop to take home.

We tried the soup and the tortilla pizza-like dish. Both were really good. We tried their green tomato drink which got mixed reviews around the table. It was fun checking out their greenhouse operation and the information they had available on the history of greenhouse growing in Iceland. We bought some tomatoes which we were able to use for the...
