Olfus Special

Had an awesome time on the trip :) I would highly recommend it. The horses are amazing, very well trained and very smart. Our guide was great. Can't wait to come back.

Riding Icelandic horses was one of the must-do activities during our trip to Iceland and we chose Solhestar from the positive reviews on Tripadvisor. We were not disappointed - from the time we arrived we felt welcomed, informed and in safe hands. Icelandic horses are amazing animals and Solhestar brings out the best in them - we would recommend these... More

Something a little different to try outside the centre of Reykjavik - Approx. 30 minute drive but they pick you up from the centre of town. Very friendly staff and horses, tailored to meet the needs of the group. Would definitely recommend.

The main horse stable Solhestar is in Hveragerdi, where most tours take place. Only the riding in Reykjavik tour is offered from another small stable close to Reykjavik. I did the Reykjavik tour and the family riding tour in Hveragerdi and enjoyed both. The two horses I got to ride were both adorable with a friendly character and nice gaits.... More

Riding Icelandic horses was top of my 'to do' list when we arrived last week. Having been into a tourist centre in shopping street we had been recommended this riding centre due to the small riding groups and personal experience. My partner and I were picked up at lunch time at a hotel near to our AirBnB by one of... More

We did the riding tour for one hour and had a great time. Solhestar supplies everything you need including overalls and waterproof jackets and boots as it was raining during our ride. The guide was great to chat with, the horses uniquely Iceland. We even had Junior, the stable dog, follow us for our ride which was cute. I would... More

Good and friendly horses. Small groups. Breathtaking landscapes. Helpful guides. Hotel pickup in Reykjavik . Totally recommend the Ölfus special, the long ride. It is a good option for tours out of the summer season.

We booked the tour in Reykjavik and it was great! Super nice people and great horses :) The group was allowed to split into experienced riders (a little faster) and beginners (slow riding). So it was the best solution for everyone, the beginners felt secure and the experienced riders weren't bored. Thank you very much, it was an awesome experience!... More

We had a tour booked for a couple of hours riding through the countryside/the around the bottom of a mountain. The horses were laid back and very hardy for the Iceland conditions. Our guide Freddy(?) was lovely, she offered to take a couple of pictures and she spoke great English. It was only Me and my boyfriend booked on the... More
