We went on paddleboards on Laugarvatn, a lukewarm and shallow lake. We took our kids, 12 and 8 years old, for our first-time paddle boarding. It was a great experience.
The guide was very helpful and patient with us. Our 8 year old struggled with the paddle but our guide was excellent with kids and helped them manage the boards. Thank you so much.

Went stand-board paddling with my 3 teenagers and it was simply great fun. They had been very lazy earlier that day, stuck on their phones and screens so I sort of dragged them out and told them that there would be a surprise. And what a surprise! We went paddling first, which was basic and not too complicated but then there were games afterwards which really added to the fun. I highly recommend for everyone with kids and teenagers - and those young at heart!

Our Girl Scout troop went on a Glacier Hike and 12-mile hike ending at a hot spring with Rajeev as our guide. Both activities were a lot of fun. Rajeev was funny and kind and very patient. He was also very caring - he paid special attention to any blisters that were forming, as that could make this hike very painful. One of the girls stepped in a creek on our 12-mile hike and her feet were soaking wet, so he gave her his spare pair of socks. He knew exactly what to do to make this an enjoyable, pain-free experience for all of us. BTW, Iceland is a stunningly beautiful country, so it's well worth going off the beaten path for some unique experiences.

Highly recommend this activity. We (wife and two young children) did the volcano cave tour. Ranjeev our guide was very professional, engaging, knowledgeable and took great care of all of our safety. A great blend of physical activity, experiencing something unique Iceland has to offer and having fun in the process. Great little makeshift cafe at the meeting point offered great sweets and coffee/hot chocolate to cap off a great time.

We had a group of 15 teenagers and adults and the week this company facilitated for us was incredible! We did caving, glacier hike/climb, several awesome hikes including a long one to a hot river and they even did the Golden Circle tour with us! Everything was extremely well organized and the bus drivers and guides were punctual. This is the best service I've ever experienced from a tour company.

We had a great experience on the lava-cave tour! This was probably the best adventure of all the things we did on Iceland.
So exciting, so beautiful, such a great guide and so much fun for the whole family!
I highly recommend this to everyone visiting Iceland!!

Family of 4 having a great day. Very friendly guide, took us up to middle of nowhere. Dug a hole in the snow, and we spent almost two hours walking in lava tunnels, before we dug ourself out again far from the entry hole. Fascinating and interesting experience.
Highly recommended.

Visiting some of the lava tube caves in the Laugarvatn area had long been on my Iceland wish list. So I was happy to find that a private tour would be possible during my visit in early December. Smári suggested visiting Litli-Björn/Vörðuhellir and Tintron.
I met my guide Rajiv at the Cave People meeting point. He outfitted me with an overall to avoid damaging my outdoor clothes as well as gloves and a helmet with a headlamp. Then he drove us toward the first cave where we looked for the entry to Litli-Björn with a GPS. It was incredibly windy that day to the point where sudden gusts almost swept me off my feet, so I was happy when we were inside the cave.
Rajiv pointed out colorful sections and special formations and taught me about how lava tube caves are formed. At the end of Litli-Björn we crawled through the narrow connecting section to Vörðuhellir and were amazed to find it sparkling with hundreds of icicles. It looked very festive, almost as if the cave had decorated itself for the holiday season.
After leaving the cave we drove to Tintron, an opening inside a lava cone that reminded me a bit of a miniature Þríhnúkagígur. Rajiv set up the belay system and the rope ladder and then I rappelled the 13 m into the cave, which was fun. We explored for a bit inside the cave and enjoyed the various colors and textures. Climbing back up the rope ladder was a lot more difficult than I expected, but Rajiv was patient with me. After battling the wind to get back to the car we arrived back at the Cave People after about 4.5 hours of exploring.
I enjoyed my tour and would highly recommend the area for people interested in caving. Contact Laugarvatn Adventure first to find the right cave for your interests and activity level.

We took the Gjabakkahellir cave tour. Rajeev was an outstanding guide. He was thoughtful and knowledgeable and experienced. He really knew what he was doing.

We met at the Cave People House, a funny tourist site in and of itself. Rajeev is taking care of some sheep so he let us feed the lambs. Your children will love this! Be sure to book the first tour of the morning.

Bring gloves and sturdy shoes. You will get dirty.

If you have been moving around the Golden Circle with the hordes, then you will enjoy this offbeat off the beaten track tour.
