We signed up with Andres to guide us for a feature packed four days in Southern Iceland in the Dark of Winter. We had eight family members of multiple generations ranging from 23 - 83 and he was just terrific with us - allowing us to split up as abilities allowed - yet to have everyone feel included. Highlights for us were black beach which showed off the power of the North Atlantic ocean against ancient lava flows and a beautiful starlit night at the FossHotel adjacent to large Glacier lagoons. Iceland in the winter is a rugged place with irregular weather and limited light (which offers opportunities to view Northern Lights) so we would recommend to those who are comfortable with the more adventurous travel.

We booked the golden circle tour and added lava caving and the secret lagoon, but we got so much more than we expected. Andres is an amazing guide and host, full of knowledge and pride in his country. He took us to areas we’d never have seen on the normal tourist routes, making our time in Iceland incredibly memorable. The lava caving was a real experience, and when the first (and second!) caves we tried were snowed over he just drove further out to find somewhere else! We’ll definitely be returning to Iceland, and will be using this company when we do.

Absolutely fantastic experience, which I would recommend to anyone who dreams of a unique and authentic nature experience in Iceland!

Our guide Uldfar took us on an incredible hike in the Icelandic countryside, where we, among other things, bathed in hot springs; lay on warm moss in our bathing suits while the rain dripped; and was served delicious salmon and lamb cooked in the hot springs. And we didn't meet a single person on our 5-hour trip, so you got the impression that it really was a secret Icelandic gem that you were allowed to experience.

I have simply never experienced anything like it - it was a fantastically beautiful and authentic experience. You can clearly feel that the company is driven by the passion for nature and outdoor life. There was time and peace to just be in nature and absorb the experiences, without the stress of having to go back to the next group of tourists.

If I come back to Iceland, I will definitely go on a tour at Iceland Activities again! 6 out of five stars from here!

I took my son to Iceland for his 20th birthday hoping for a memorable experience together. It was everything we could have wished for and more. Andreas our tour guide was knowledgeable, attentive and super experienced. The jeep tour was exciting. We loved the snow shoeing up the mountain and down into the valley where we were greeted by a hot river to bathe in. We picniced and relaxed in the water surrounded by amazing scenery and blue skies.

Wow! What a GREAT time! We were a family of 16 people (ages 7-77) and everyone LOVED it! First we rode bikes to a small waterfall where we saw salmon jumping up river. Then we rode to a spot where a hot waterfall cascaded into a river. We climbed down a steep hill (with a rope to help), then enjoyed nature's hot tub and jumped off a small cliff into the (cold) river before warming back up in the waterfall pool. Those who didn't want to trek down the rope could stay up top to watch or dip their feet into some small hot pools. After that, we rode to a separate spot where we got to see a bunch of geothermal hot spots and our guides cooked us lamb stew in the ground! We had chocolate fondue for dessert (again cooked from the heat of the earth!). And we went on an adventurous ride after that-- we were grateful for the "boost" from the e-bikes to get up some of the inclines! Then we headed back to base camp for some coffee/ tea/hot chocolate. Úlfar our guide was delightful! We loved his stories and seeing his family videos while we were waiting to get geared up and enjoying the drinks afterwards. He is clearly passionate about the area and about the various outdoor activities that it offers. Highly recommend!

Note- bring a swimsuit and towel!

I cannot speak more highly of Úlli and his family. They took amazingly good care of us! They provided hiking poles for those who wanted them, bike helmets when we were hiking a stream and likely to hit our heads, extra layers, including waterproof ones. They even brought extra ones along so we could swap out our damp things for dry ones on the day it rained. A few in our group had gluten issues - they provided gluten free meals for us. And when on one of our days it became apparent that some in the group were happy to go hiking in the mountains all day but others wanted a more relaxing day of vacation, they split the group in two to accommodate both sets of needs. Hire these guys - you won't be sorry!

We did a mountainbiketour in group, stopped different times for information about the area, a hidden hotspring and lunch that was prepared for us (plus eggs that were cooked in the ground). It was a great experience and the guide was really kind, informative and patient. He really took his time for us. Supernice familybusiness!

Our family of four had an amazing day in Thorsmark with Ulfar in June 2019. We have two boys ages 16 and 12. Our day canyoning and hiking will be a lifelong memory. We loved spending time with Ulfar and his amazing dog Arape. Ulfar was able to provide JUST the right level of adventure for our city-boys. The meal he grilled up for us was delicious. Ulfar had all kinds of gear at the ready for whatever we wanted to do. When one of our boys tripped and fell into the stream, Ulfar loaned him his hand knit sweater his mother made for him. Ulfar is a consummate professional, focused on creating unique and personalized experience rather than high volume tours. We still talk about Arape, Ulfar's dog and our younger son has a massive poster photo montage of the day in Thorsmark covering his bedroom wall - he said it was "the best day of his entire life". Hard to beat that!

We travelled as a family of five adults, and had three days with Andres, which were brilliant. We visited a recent lava flow, went in a lava tunnel, and lazed in a hot spring while our dinner cooked. The hot spring was amazing as we were in a small hidden valley and never saw another person the whole afternoon - something that you only dream about! Our last day was visiting the south of the island, viewing the waterfalls and glacier. Our daughter really wanted to see Puffins and Andreas went out of his way to take her to cliffs where she could see them.
Andreas is a genuinely nice guy, he was knowledgable and totally focused on keeping us safe and ensuring we had a great time. If you want a personal tour with a knowledge and passionate guide you will not be disappointed with Iceland Activities

We had a great time on our bike tour to the Reykjadalur thermal river with Andres. Took a long soak in the river then continued on to the ridges above. You must have mountain biking experience to do this tour, as it goes up and down steep single tracks and loose gravel paths. Choosing the e-bike option will save a lot of effort on the climbs.
