Went on a 2 hrs ATV tour with East Highlanders with a group of friends. Great trails, good bikes and excellent local guides.

A M A Z I N G is probably an understatement. The ATV ride went way beyond our expectations - the guide was absolutely fantastic and the route had so much to offer. We had a really good time and will definitely come back later!

The ATV tour was a highlight of my 10 day trip in Iceland. I visited with my friend who is a professional ATV guide and enthusiast. She is understandably a very good driver and not easily impressed by guided tours as she does them herself all of the time, however this tour impressed her (and myself of course). We booked a two hour tour guided by Eli - and spent almost three hours zigzagging through the beautiful forest and reaching incredible vantage points. The stops were great as Eli was very knowledgeable of the area. He taught us about the varna, the lake and its famous lake wyrm, and about the efforts to preserve and reforest the area. He was down to earth and we drove some more difficult trails and also let us open it up and he was confident we were competant drivers ourselves.
This tour is a must do in East Iceland. The entire east is often overlooked by tourists more interested in lava and the blue lagoon but I think the East is incredibly beautiful and will continue to become more popular. Visit now!

We booked a 2 hr tour with Jens. He is the friendliest and down to earth guide ever - and boy does he love his berries! He showed us all kinds of berries to be found throughout the forests on our ride, sampling some. We loved him!

There were a couple of no shows, so Jens ended up taking me and my wife on our own private tour! Instead of our 2 hr tour, we ended up with a 2.5 hr tour and loved every minute!

Jens was super patient with both of us having never driven ATVs before. We were smiling the entire time! This was the absolute high-light of our trip!

Only issue we had was it was a bit difficult to find, which is understandable since it's in a more rural area. Instead of looking for their location via Google Maps, which is wrong as of 9/23/2017 - try looking for Hotel Hallormsstadhur instead. Their meeting point is the next path over from the hotel.

"When i see a smile on my guests face I know that everything was fine". That's how our guide Jens finished the tour. And it was not just fine it was awesome... We had a little bit of rain but that was no problem because of the suits we got. Also the safety is guaranteed because of the helmet and the instruction at the beginning.
We went through little rivers, over stones and through the forest. Also for not experienced people it's worth it and you will get into it.
Jens was so nice. He told us a few stories and also answered a lot of questions.
If you want to have a lot of fun combined with getting to know some local stuff we can just recommend it.

The four of us booked the one hour ATV tour with our guide Jens who was absolutely amazing! He was extremely helpful with directions to the meeting point when we called him after getting lost. We were provided with a protective helmet, gloves, and jumpsuit to keep us clean and dry. Three out of the 4 of us had never gone ATV-ing before. Jens did a great job with explaining the basics of what we needed to know to get the quad bike going properly. I also liked that he was careful to put the least comfortable person in front and the most experienced in the back so as to ensure no one was ever left behind! He made sure to keep an eye on us the entire time and was extremely helpful when any of us became stuck or had trouble with the quad bike due to our own misuse being first timers. The equipment itself was not at all faulty!

We rode through tracks that passed through various terrain--from uneven dirt and rocky tracks to streams of water and all the way up the mountain where you could see plenty of beautiful waterfalls and variously colored trees and foliage along the entire pathway up! Jens was extremely knowledgeable about Iceland and all the beauty and history it has to offer. He had a great sense of humor and made the tour extremely enjoyable.

We loved that Jens took his time with us and although our tour was scheduled for 1 hour at 12:30pm, we didn't get back to our car and leave until around 4:00pm! Of course this included the equipment training and suiting up as well as the break we get at the top of the mountain where he shared several historical facts and Icelandic stories. Awesome!!!

This was overall an incredible experience that none of us will ever forget! I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland!

Me and my grilfriend took this ATV tours. It was best of what we can do in Egilsstadir. We had a lot of fun. Our tour was for 2hours. When we started the guide go very slow and give us time to get used, but later he went faster and faster. We crossed rivers, we were top of some moutain, there guide told some things about Egilsstadir. I want to very recommented this tour. Thank you very much for that.

We simply had a great time with a family of five quadbiking with guide and owner Jens through the highlands near Hallormsstadhur. Jens made us well aware of the specifics of riding a quadbike in rocky and woody terrain with some wet crossings. It is indeed technically different to our previous experience in sandy dessert, but just as fun and impressive.

We road along narrow trails in the woods, through some streams, up to the more rocky hilltops with a superb view across the long river valley below with waterfalls in the distance. Jens is also very knowledgeable about Iceland. So we learnt a lot with some staggering facts, such as more than 10 meters of snow on these hilltops in winter... with reindeers walking about in the town. And why the colour of the river is different than elsewhere. But also about his regular job as policeman and Icelandic society, which is very safe by western standards. You are in good and safe hands! Enjoy it!
