About
Beautiful stone museum in middle of Djúpavogur. The owner has been collecting stones around Djúpivogur for 30 years and in 2009 he opened his museum. The stones are cut in half by circular saw and polished so you can see the beauty in them. Crystals, agate, quartz and zeolite are what can be seen at the Museum, the biggest stone weighs 460kg and is the largest one of its kind ever found in Iceland.

Local museum

Interesting museum in Djupivogur. Admisdion price very reasonable. So much variety of local stones hand picked by Audunn himself. He has much knowledge about these stones. He also has a small shop where he sells stones and products made from them.

30 years of stone polishing
Jul 2019 • Couples
The owner, Audun, has collected over 30 years minerals and stones of various types. He has stones for sale and a museum where he displays his collection of agathe slices. He guides you through his collection and sprinkles certain slices which reveals very nice landscapes. It is a nice experience.

Fascinating gallery of colourful stones
Sep 2018 • Friends
This gallery is entirely the work of a passionate individual who collects attractive rock specimens and then cuts and polishes them to create works of art. The work is attractively presented and the artist enthusiastically describes his art. Enjoy.

Great stone gallery and workshop
Jul 2019 • Family
Housed in an industrial looking building this gallery is amazing. Shelves of beautifully polished stones all collected by the owner from around the area. Huge rock containing agate and quartz crystals- well worth seeing.
Owner friendly and informative about the rocks and the polishing process. Lots of stones of varying sizes to buy.

Most Surprising Stop in Seven Days
Jul 2019 • Family
There is an old saying, “Enjoy what you do for a living and you will never work a day in your life.” Well, that was written for the guy who owns and operates this place. I have ZERO interest in rocks and minerals, but my wife dragged me into this place because she thought she might like to buy something. We were the only people (with my two adult sons) in the place when we walked in. It’s basically warehouse space with rocks and minerals all over the place. My only goal was to get out of there as quickly as possible. Then we met the proprietor of the place, a guy who looked like he came out of an Icelandic mountaineer production line, and when he started talking about his rocks and minerals his eyes absolutely danced. He seemed to know when and where he got every rock and he talked about them with such love and affection you’d think they were his children. He showed us rocks upstairs. He showed us rocks downstairs. He brought us into a back room to show us rocks he didn’t have room for our front! He even showed us the various grades of sand that he uses to polish the rocks. He loves looking for rocks, finding rocks, carrying the rocks down a mountain, breaking open rocks to see what’s inside and polishing rocks. And he loves talking about rocks. He did it with such gusto and enthusiasm that I ENDED UP BUYING A ROCK! I bough a piece of polished jasper that I will keep on my desk as a reminder of how great life would be if we could all do what we love and love what we do for a living. If you do one thing in this tiny town, visit this man and ask him about his rocks.

Impressive
Jul 2018 • Couples
You will be impressed, not just be the collection, but the passion of Audunn, who has committed great energy to his collection.
For the rock enthusiast there is an amazing diversity of rocks and for the novice there is an amazing diversity of rocks.
The room is small, but the collection is massive.
