Flat plain covered in all manner of volcanic manifestations - hot water pools, fumaroles, mudpots - all surrounded by brown, orange and yellow caked deposits. The whole area seems about to erupt, and the rising steam can be seen from a long distance away. Fences...More

We didn't think very much of this stop - a couple of bubbling mud pots and very strong sulfur smell. If you haven't seen anything like this, it is worth a stop since it is right on the Ring Road. If you have been to...More

This is an area just beside the road, just pull off and walk as much or as little as you'd like. It's beautiful and interesting - and pretty muddy on a rainy day. Worth a stop, for sure.

Incredible the whims of mother nature. Unfortunately we had running shoes on so we didn't get all the out into the large field. We would certainly like to return if possible with better footwear to properly walk the terrain.

Wow! Going to the geothermal area near Lake Myvatn was super cool! You feel like you are on a desolate planet in a way! A must stop...and relatively quick!

This place stinks, but is worth the time spent. There is a huge parking lot for this attraction that will allow all types of vehicles. Once you leave the parking lot it is imperative to stop at the 'deck' and read the informational sign about...More

Rotten eggs galore! Worth a stop to see the wonders that make this a unique place. Bubbling mud, sulfur rich steam vents. What more could you want!?

The other reviews are not kidding. This place stinks, especially when the wind is blowing in your direction. It is still a nice place to make a quick stop to see the mud pools and take some videos/pictures. I wish we would have had time...More

Beware! Stinky.... thanks to the sulphuric acid that naturally occurs in geothermal pools! We hiked up the mountain to get some pretty epic pictures of the landscape but I highly recommend wearing hiking boots if you’re going to do this! The pools are pretty awesome...More

No fee for parking or entrance You can take as much time as you want including a quick picture from a look out point or an hour of following a path.

I have had a trip by my own self, without organised tour ... camping near the lake and walked for about 4-5 hours
