This is the true Icelandic, authentic thermal bath experience.
I preferred this site to the Blue Lagoon.

I recommend you bring your own towel (thin quick drying ones like those used by campers / hikers) and your own rubber flip flops / shower sandals, these for traction and health reasons.

Small, but big enough to not be crowded by tourists.
Attended by locals, intimate.
No reservation needed. Show up (check times), purchase your entry, get your locker coin and enter the locker room.

Instructions are clearly posted. Get naked, shower, bathe with soap, with particular attention the important points shown on the anatomical chart. Put your swim suit on and enter the lagoon.

The water is warm with different temperature pockets.
The water has a slippery but not slimy feel.
You will immediately notice groups of Icelanders talking and socializing, particularly after work hours.
There is a swim up window to purchase drinks, charged to your account
Nice view of the surrounding Lake Myvatn area..

This is as authentic an Iceland experience as you can have with a very reasonable price. About $45 per person, less for seniors and children.

Save your time and money to visit this geothermal hot spring, much better than the Blue Lagoon.

A couple of hours at Myvatn baths is a great way to unwind and soothe weary legs after exploring the local area. We booked for 2 hours before closing but this wasn't long enough in the baths (we lost a good 15 minutes checking in, changing & showering and then we had the closing whistle blown at least 15 minutes before closing time). But the time we spent in the baths was great. You can prepay for drinks to enjoy while soaking up the view of the lake. Water is warm - but cools as you move towards the lake view area. There was a small pool advertised at 40C, which we found to be a great place to swap tales with other travellers, but felt a lot cooler than that. The main pool was definitely warmer. If you haven't been to a thermal bath in Iceland, this is a great choice. Its no way as vast as the Blue Lagoon but is a lot less touristy.

Snowcapped mountains were our views from the pool after a late September storm. It was magnificent! Wear simple easy to get on and off shoes and clothing to the dressing room. The lockers are small. Leave jewelry in your car or hotel as it can possibly be damaged by the minerals. Remember to stay hydrated. Beverages are for sale when you check in and I recommend purchasing one. Water is also available above the pool area. I am in my mid 70's so I had to be aware of the length of time I spent in the warm waters as lightheadedness is possible. There is a large clock above the pool so you know the amount of time you've been in. My hair was wonderfully soft after using the shower shampoo and conditioner. It's a great experience for young or those who are older!

The nature baths are okay, but in dire need of a refresh. The changing rooms were much too small for the number of visitors and the lagoons were not well maintained with slimy seats and tired stairs. There was only one really hot bath, which was a concrete trough, and the biggest pool was only luke warm.

On the plus side, the staff were lovely and helped me sort out a mistake I made with my booking with no problems at all, and we did feel a lot less achy after spending an hour here.

It looks like they're doing some work at the moment to expand and improve the facilities, but until that's complete, I would recommend visiting a different hot spring.

This hot spring/ natural bath was our least favorite of the trip and we visited 5 on our trip. The two main issues were how dirty (filthy) the change rooms were. The shoe area was wet and muddy when we arrived and 1.5 h later when we left- no attempt was made to clean it. The change rooms which are also the worst we experienced the whole trip would have been bearable if not for the unpleasant wet and filth. The women’s shower area smelt like pee and there was not a dry spot in sight. I probably could have overlooked this if the pools had been nice and hot… but they were warm at best and everyone was huddling close to warm spots but it was not a place I would re-visit or recommend. We visit on the evening of September 30th, 2022.

This was a bit of a dissapointment, after Blue Lagoon, Hrunalaug hot springs, Landmannulaugar river hot springs. This “hot springs” was barely hot! There were a few spots near the pipes that was hot (almost too hot at times as it was not constant outflow) whreas other parts were at best lukewarm and the other pool could hardly be called warm. Only saving grace was it was a beautiful spot to watch the sunset. Quite disgraceful charge money to enter a barely hot thermal bath; small bathroom for the amount if patrons using it, the shower didnt have hot water and 2 measly hairdryers!!! Speechless!

Needs greater improvement in services provided . Mediocre, considering the premium charged.
Save yourself kronas and head for any of the local pools, where saunas are hotter and more varied, locker rooms are cleaner, staff makes sure that everyone properly washes themselves before swimming, where one can actually do laps , just follow the locals. The water quality is from the same source.

This place is very convenient and clean. I am very glad to have skipped much hyped such places near Keflavik airport. If you’re traveling up north, strongly recommend visiting this…instead of very much hyped locations.

Staff is very courteous and helpful. They keep cleaning overall more frequently. Most importantly it’s all natural and in nature environment. Very much economical than comparable places.

Visited as part of a tour. Food in cafe was good. The baths are amazing. A cool blue colour and a lovely temperature naturally heated. On our visit it wasn't to busy which was an added bonus. There is a slight smell but you forget about it prity quickly. You can pay for towels and drinks at the admission desk and you do have to shower naked before putting on your bathing costume and entering the pool. A mist if you are on the area.

Loved our visit to Myvatn. As others have said, not as crowded and touristy as the blue lagoon.

There is the main pool which is lovely and warm with pockets of slightly hotter and slightly cooler water. There’s also steam rooms with cold showers outside and a small hot bath where the water is 40+ degrees for those for want to soak in higher temperatures.

The main pool has a swim up bar - you can pre-pay for drinks when you check in at reception.

Great views across the lava fields and lake Myvatn.

Loved it, would definitely go back
