Visiting the dogs was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Iceland. Our kids (7 and 10) enjoyed not only the ride, but also playing and petting the dogs afterwards. In summer the dogs pull a cart (2 persons). The owners really care about the dogs and are very hospitable. Ps) the dog farm moved recently a few kilometers up north, about 15 km south of Laugar.

This was an unbelievably wonderful activity - not only do you get to dog sled, they let you take over, meet the dogs before and meet the puppies after! Warm clothing and boots were also provided, and even a souvenir neck scarf! I cannot think of the words needed to say what a once in a lifetime opportunity this was. Keep up the great work Snow dogs!

This tour was simply awesome ! I highly recommend to do this tour ! We were two couples doing this tour, and we had so much fun with the dogs . We had the opportunity to stand on the break and drive together with the slide on the back. That was awesome . Afterwards we were playing with the dogs and had the chance to cuddle with them. Thank you for this amazing experience and doing this tour extra for us on a Saturday !

If you wish to add a unique experience to your trip to North Iceland, then Snow Dogs certainly delivers a great experience, and then some more. They operate from the farm Heiði, in the Mývatn area, with easy access from the main road. I went there in January with my girlfriend who is a huge dog lover. The whole experience was professional and well organized from start to finish. The dogs were all friendly, beautiful and very well trained. Bergþóra told us all there is to know about them, then took us out to the sled. We spent an hour or so flying through the surrounding frozen wetlands. The dogs were much faster than I have imagined, but we felt safe all the time. Bergþóra was controlling the dogs like a pro and I even had a chance to mush the sled with her from the back at one point. After the trip, we could meet all her dogs once again and had a chance to ask questions and take plenty of pictures. Bergþóra and her dogs offer a breathtaking adventure made even better by the beauty of the Mývatn area as your background. If you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience on your travels, look no further.

I had a great time doing a snow mobile and dog sled combo. It's a family owned business and Saemundur and his wife were very welcoming and great. You are able to meet your Siberian Husky sled dogs before and after the ride which made the overall experience even better. They have full gear in case you don't show up prepared with winter waterproof gear. It included a full warm waterproof jumpsuit, full helmet with face shield, gloves, and water proof insulated boots. The total trip lasted about 3 hours and the combo package allows you to experience both the snow mobile and the sled ride. Keep in mind these are dogs and some are being trained so don't expect the dogs to go very fast all the time, it's a long ride and they due tend to get more tired and distracted towards the end but part of the enjoyment for me was seeing how each of these dogs had it's own personality. After the ride it was more time for petting and we were invited into the family's home for some warm coffee/cocoa. It's in the Lake Myvatn area about 20 minutes from the Fosshotel weather permitting. I would highly recommend the combo if you haven't experienced either one.
