From the top of the hill you have a superb view of the hairpin turn of the Saar river. Down below a lovely little path alongside it invites you for a leisurely walk. You might encounter an enormous river freighter and a small kayak sharing the space. If you are up to it they have build a huge structure to... More

We walked along the canal bank from Mettlach, found the forest track to the viewpoint eventually (it's better marked from the opposite side) and walked through the forest to get this view. The gradient was easily manageable and the view was great. On the return we took the ferry to the opposite side to vary the walk back - about... More

I don't how to explain but this curve of the Saar is really very powerful. And the walking till arriving there is very pleasant.

It was just a short hike to the lookout from the parking lot - 10 min. at most. The view is very pretty and is probably more so with fall colors, but it's not spectacular. Lock up your car and keep your items out of sight. A woman practically followed me in to the bathroom stall begging for money and... More

Absolutely stunning view over the Saar bend that is dotted with restaurants/B&Bs that are open winter and summer months. If you are a strong walker then leave the car at the Cloef Orcholtz car park walk to the shelter at the viewpoint and descend down the hillside (about 30 mins down and 45 back ) and join the roadway leading... You need to see this if you are in the area as it is something you will not forget or regret we went in the rain and I didn't spoil it all in fact the mist made it even better

Not as good as the shoe horse bend in Utah (US), but a little closer by and nice to see. Park like, trails available.

Spectacular views over the Saar river bend and forests. The viewpoint itself is situated in a woodland park with lots of forest walks and there is a nearby car park with toilet facilities. We stayed at the nearby Landhotel Saarschleife from where it was an easy 15 min walk downhill. There were lots of other visitors but somehow it doesn't... More

Impressive view, quiet peaceful place despite quite a few visitors/tourists. Worth the visit if you are in the area. Lovely drive through countryside to get to the look out. Next time will bring hiking boots and try the trails. You could easily spend a day here hiking what are clearly marked trails.

Only 10min drive from Mettlach, this is something you should make time to go and see. This is something unique to see.
