Beautiful, peaceful beach and great places to stay. We love how quiet it is. We have stayed at prime hook to Nj on these beaches and nothing is more enjoyable for family and our dogs that we take on vacation with us. Some beaches had spiders, some beaches had flies, they all mostly had horseshoe crabs but we have made great memories with the family at Broadkill beach. If you looking for rest and relaxing this is the place.

If you like a more natural beach with less people (there's no boardwalk or admenities). Fishing is permitted and there are no lifeguards.

During 2015, the beach will be undergoing a beach restoration project so that should be taken into consideration.

If you don't like the crowded, ride around for hours looking for a parking spot. Then this beach is for you. Is actually on the Delaware Bay, so a little calmer waves than the ocean. Come early cuz parking is limited, but free
Clean and litter free. We like it better in the winter when all the tour-ons are gone till the following summer !!!

Another wonder...another wonderfool beach sit and beach walk. Found 13 shards of seaglass and pottery. Got sunburn. Had big smiles. Beach was vacant in both directions. Priceless.😎😉😁

Welcome to Broadkill

This is the only beach I ever want to go to !

Close in proximity to the
“Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge”, there are biting flies so you need to be prepared…

Aside from that… this place is SO peaceful!

The owners greet you with their staff at the Broadkill Store
Here you can find homemade doughnuts 🍩 (we didn’t get a chance this trip to try any), hotdogs, hamburgers, subs and sandwiches!
The have COFFEE 🙌🏻, drinks, bait, tackle, a few souvenirs and hand dipped Hershey’s Ice-Cream 🍦!

As a tight knit community, everyone knows everyone..

This is the only beach you are able to access at night and have a fire on the beach.

The biggest issue here in Broadkill is tourists 😠

There have been alot of people who come and not only disrespect wildlife and nature by walking on the dunes, but the trash left is ridiculous 😤 not to mention fire debris left along the shore line and speeding through the one road that they have.

I encourage you to definitely come here
but as a respectful visitor !!!
We need to show them that not all beach visitors are destructive!

We fell in love with this place!!
Officially my second home!

What the other travelers posted is all true--quiet, uncrowded little slice of beach. Water is very very calm, more like a lake than the ocean. Very pretty.

BUT
I don't know if our experience was unusual or if it was the time of year (early October) but our 5 days at a wonderful beach house were marred by one major issues--BITING FLIES! And I don't mean a few--I'm talking swarms of them attacking us from sunup to sundown while on the beach. They are relentless and evil and they do not seem to care about insect repellent--we tried two different kinds without any relief. We literally had to wrap ourselves in towels from toe to neck to be able to stay for more than a few minutes on the beach. A real nightmare!

The dune that was added last year is partially gone and many of the access points are dangerous due to the erosion. DNREC has tried to repair the access but since the final project has not been accepted from the Army Corp of Eng. No one is is responsible for any issues associated with injuries as a result of the erosion.
Vehicles are not forbidden so anyone with a 4 wheel drive can run down the beach without restrictions {such as required by a state surf permit, dogs run loose and owners and beach goers leave waste and trash. There is no local government org except for volunteer homeowners who care for the beach. Parking only exists near the Broadkill store as well as two Jiffy Johns. Driving farther north or south is frustrating as no parking exists and public access to the beach is hard to find. Be careful where you park as they will begin towing illegally parked cars soon, due to the violations incurred.

Three out of four members if our family were stung by jellyfish in the first 15 minutes, then no one wanted to go in any more.

This beach is not maintained so you do have horseshoe crab, fiddler crabs and sea weed laying around. But it is very quiet and a beautiful beach. Not crowd at all I would rather be here then some of the popular beachs.
