- Kristin AGreensboro, North Carolina41 contributionsGood family timethis was a great place to take a family. The cave is very small and you go in one way and come out the same way. It doesn't take long at all but it's still really cool to see. We got the package that included everything and I think this was the best choice because otherwise you'd be in and out in no time. My daughter liked the smash room and I really liked the ax throwing getting the gems was a bonus. All in all it doesn't take that long to go through but if you take your time it's enjoyable. The staff working there was great. They helped us with ideas of things to do in Arkansas as we were visiting for the weekend. They were patient and attentive, helping us one on one with each step of the way.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 9, 2023
- Hunter BRogers, Arkansas4 contributionsAmazing self guided tour. Best activity in Eureka Springs!!!This cave was amazing. Our family has been in countless caves around the country but it is one of the only caves that is self guided. Great tour! My kids loved it and the gem panning! It was the highlight of the trip. Just the drive out to the cave and then the gift shop was amazing with affordable prices. The price was half of the cost of the other local caves. We highly recommend it and will go back.Visited October 2023Traveled with familyWritten October 17, 2023
- melwashere81Cleveland, Texas3,444 contributionsBest place to visit in Eureka SpringsWe absolutely loved our visit to Onyx Cave! There are several different activities to do here and we did them all. We started with the self guided Cave Tour which was amazing! Then we headed over to the axe throwing (I won). Afterwards we did the smash room which is a great way to let out some frustration! Last, we did the gem mining. I think it was around $70 each but that included all those activities. We had an absolute blast and would love to visit again!Visited November 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten November 30, 2023
- Brad TSuamico, Wisconsin4 contributionsPay the extra to have the tour guide at the end!!!Was a nice self guided tour for the money. They offered for like 6 dollars more to have a tour guide meet you at the end and take you more places and talk about the cave more. We spent the extra money and it was worth every penny. The guide we had was extremely passionate about the cave. It made the experience so much better with him. Having more access to other spaces in the cave was great too. If the guide at the end wasn’t so good I probably would not have spent the time to leave this review. It is worth my time to leave the feedback on him.Visited April 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 7, 2024
- K K45 contributionsGreat cave tour with knowledgeable guide.Interesting cave and the narrative was good, just follow the directions and you will stay in sync with the narrative. We took the self guided tour with the guide at the end who provided a lot more information. He was very knowledgeable, enthusiastic and willing to answer any questions. People working at the desk were also very nice. Nice little shop. Make sure you have a coin to toss in the wishing well. Other activities on site that we did not participate in.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 20, 2024
- Kim S3 contributionsFamily adventureExcellent adventure. Our family enjoyed the tour. The best part was the additional guided tour with James. He was so great at teaching the kids the history of the cave and his excitement of exploring the caves. Such a good family experience and one we won’t forget.Visited May 2024Traveled with familyWritten May 27, 2024
- rusurucanFolsom, Louisiana130 contributionsCave tourThis is a little hidden gem. You tour the cave on your own with audio. You can take your time and take as many pictures as you want. We done the audio tour as well as the behind the scenes tour. It’s definitely worth the extra $6. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and took time to explain everything in the cave. I would definitely recommend!Visited July 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 28, 2024
- DayTrip5154294 contributionsGood value for an interesting cave.Husband and I went first thing in the morning on a Tuesday and had the place to ourselves for our tour. We liked the self-guided tour with the headphones. There were some great formations and good places for photos. It was a fairly short tour, perfect length for anyone who is a little nervous about being underground. There is one spot where you need to duck your head for about five feet but nowhere that you feel squeezed. I am pretty claustrophobic but had no anxiety at all. The staff were pleasant and helpful and there are also two cats in the gift shop, always a plus!Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 17, 2024

To enter Onix Cave you must enter the gift shop first. The gift shop door has a sign stating "masks are REQUIRED in the gift shop". The gift shop attendant was not wearing a mask and of the group of 8 people she was assisting, only 1 had a mask. None of them cared about the pandemic and they scoffed at the notion of wearing a mask. Pure ignorance! I would not recommend a visit to Oniz Cave because they have a blatant disregard for your health. Shame on them for posting a sign implying they take COVID seriously then ignore their own sign. Again . . .IGNORANCE!!!

Cost is $11.50 a person. I couldn’t find that advertised anywhere online. By the time , I got to the cashiers desk, I HAD to pay for the tour because there was no way I was walking up the steep incline to get to my car.The tour was audio based but it didn’t match up to the pace people moved. The tour would be better with a map or tour guide. The yellow line was almost invisible so that made it really hard to keep up with the tour. The cave was interesting, but not worth the entry fee.

This was average, If you have seen other caves do not pay to see these, these are run down and the audio self-guided tour is confusing and the cave itself quite short and not impressive compared to other caves (like branson/south america) etc.
They do have axe throwing here but it is around 30 bucks per person for 30 minutes which is quite expensive in my opinion.
They have some "pay dirt" that you can uncover nice gems/stones/arrowheads that are expensive but the kids really loved to find "treasures"
next time i would just pay for more of the "pay dirt" and let kids find fun things in it and not do the cave tour at all.

We had a wonderful experience at Onyx Cave! The tour was self-guided, which allowed us to move at the pace of our children; it took us about 30 mins to see it all and snap some pics. The cave itself is beautiful and does not have any steep climbs or descents (again, great with young children!). We purchased the combo cave tour/mining tickets for our kids, so that they could “mine” some fossils and gems at the end of the tour. They enjoyed using the sluice to uncover their treasures! The staff/owners are incredibly pleasant folks, which made our visit to Onyx Cave even more enjoyable!

We had a blast here! The cave was very cool and fun to walk through. Only downside of it is that you have to wear headphones and it’s all recorded. Unable to ask questions during the tour or have a personable guide. The price was good as well!! However, axe throwing was our very favorite part of our whole trip. We did half an hour and it was amazing. Highly recommend.

We thought the cave was really neat. It seemed a little pricey for tour length but our small kids enjoyed it more than expected. They liked the self-guided tour with headphones and had a lot of fun exploring and finding the dragon and elephant shaped formations mentioned on tour. We somehow missed some of the yellow lines to sync with the tour in headphones so we accidentally got ahead of the tour recording, which is short—-about 30 min tour to the back and then walking same path out. A lot of good info on the tour recording—it isn’t long but is very well done. We probably spent 50 mins in the cave. You walk around at your own pace. The cave isn’t a bad drive from Eureka Springs.

Everyone was very welcoming and nice! It was nice being able to hear the tour on the way down and take in the scenery on the way back. Axe throwing was so much fun and they did a great job demonstrating and helping. I will definitely return and enjoy. No cave like this where I am from.

Cave tour wasn’t bad but nothing spectacular. A good cave for our kids that don’t have anything to compare it to. The reason I give it 1 star is the customer service has been very bad. We were double charged because their card reader messed up. There’s no cell service there so I couldn’t check my account until I was gone and noticed I had been double charged. I called and was told to send a screenshot of the double charge to their email which I did. No response and no refund. I called and was told there was something wrong with their internet and it would be fixed soon. Still nothing after a couple days and no communication so I called again. Was told the manager was talking to someone and I would be called back very soon…but I wasn’t. I called and they were closed so I left a message… but as you can guess, the call was never returned. I think I’ve seen the last of that $65.00 but if not I’ll update my review.
Word of advice…if you go bring cash. You’re sure to only pay once that way.

I'm a little afraid of caves so I need an easy one, I'm claustrophobic. Would this be doable for someone like me?

I am 67 with bad knees. There is a long steep walk from the parking lot to the cave, the walk has stairs or you can use the ramp. I just took ramp my time.
Once in the cave the walk is easy.

You can take as long as you like. It is a one way tour. You go back out the way you came. You can take plenty of time for pictures. It guides you with headphones but you don't advance to the next spot until you want to. It took us a bit over an hour to take it all in

It is Onyx Cave Park open for December 24 ,2016 or December 25 ,2016? If yes , what would be the operation hours? And what is the price entrance for this attraction in Arkansas? My Family it consist of nine (9) members : one (1) Senior [67 years old],four (4) Kids - 14 years old , 10 years old , 9 years old & 7 years old; and four adults - 49 years , 42 years old , 44 years old & 40 years old.

We recently visited the Onyx Cave. It is a family run business. I'm not sure about their hours in December, but, since they are family owned and you are a large group, call them and ask if they will do a tour just for you and your family. Everyone in this area is very friendly. It might be worth a phone call to ask...

The price for one 72 yr old and two 61 yr olds. How long is the tour?
Written August 23, 2016
It takes about 30 min. They give you headphones and you push buttons to activate the sound along the way.
Written October 21, 2016
How far is this from Rogers, ar? And what is the cost?
Written March 18, 2015
I would recommend doing your own Mapquest search so you can have more specific details but approx. an hour drive. See the link below, a google search can do you wonders to answer your questions :) It won't allow you to attach the link: onyxcaveeurekasprings-it tells you all important information including entry fees.
