    Neat place to visit.
This is a great place to visit if you don’t mind walking a ways. Parking here is sparse so you’ll either need to get there early or be prepared to walk quite a bit. There are tons of shops to explore and great restaurants. Be sure to check them all out, especially East and West to visit the working bunnies. It’s packed with plenty of history too for those of you who love to learn.

    Busy Sunday
My parents and I visited Downtown Eureka Spring on a Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day to be exact. We expected it to be less busy since the parade had been the day before and visitors should have been heading home. Surprisingly, the place was a madhouse. All the metered street parking was full or not wide enough, so my dad finally paid to park by the bank (money goes to a local organization to fund them). Even with the mobs of people, the sidewalks were not too crowded and I was able to get some pretty good shots of the buildings and such as we walked around. We finally realized it was so crazy because it was the start of spring break, though Eureka Springs doesn’t seem a likely location to go. Overall, a fun visit as always.

We went into town twice. Weather was perfect and the shops are all very cute! There was a diversity weekend booth set up with a band playing one day. Tons of food, live music, people watching and shopping.

    Historic beauty and shopping.
Beautiful area. Lots if shops of various types. Lots of food options also. Family friendly. Very little parking, you may have to walk a few blocks, but it is worth it. Full of history and clean.

    Historic Downtown
Really fun downtown with a lot of shopping. Unique shops. We travel with my elderly mom, so it was not the easiest place to get around being on a hill. Lots of fun history there. Good cultural diversity too.

    2024 Volkswagen Car Show
We went to the Volkswagen Car Show with our friends that were in the show. We stayed at a lovey Airbnb on pine and spring. It was close to everything! We didn’t have enough time to visit all that Eureka Springs has to offer! Springs, glass chapel, etc…. We will be back❤️

We came to Eureka Springs for a getaway. The town is basically open 10-4 and we had excursions planned during the day. We arrived on a Tuesday as no one warned us that was basically a holiday around here. We had trouble finding good places for dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is only one shop on Main Street with Eureka springs labeled items. I didn’t feel like I was able to shop around and didn’t find any t shirts for less than $25. There is one candy shop in town and they close around 5. When reading places to go before we arrived, I was under the impression that this was a good place for ice cream. However most all of the ice cream places are shut down (maybe from covid)? The one Italian ice place on Main Street closes at 3-4 pm. We were not able to get dessert on Main Street. We attempted going to a restaurant with homemade pies and it was an utter disappointment. Maybe this was a better tourist location before covid, but very disappointing now. However, the nature around this area and the caves etc made it worthwhile.

The town is gorgeous. We took the trolley ride to town. Our trolley driver was kind enough to recommend getting off at stop 83 so we could walk down the hill instead of fighting the trek up. We were there during the week and None of the shops had set hours. It would say it was open on one website but would be closed when we got there. Or they closed early for the day depending on foot traffic. Several shops didn’t open during the week at all. There were Several ice cream shops, but they all served blue bell ice cream. The only shop that served handcrafted ice cream was only open 1 day a week. The shops we were able to visit were unique and nicely maintained. Employees and owners were kind and helpful. Everyone seems happy. Though mountain time certainly feels like island time in this town since coordinating activities during the week was a bit of a challenge.

If you have not been to this area note the roads are very small, parking is limited and the area if tight. Try and travel during the week and avoid weekends unless waiting and being around many people of once is your thing. The parking we used required change "quarters.

The sidewalks are also small for walking. We walked the area on a rainy day which of course cleared out most of the crowds. Great little restaurants and coffee shop.
Many places to shop and explore.

How to improve this place? Wow, I am sure that this is something that will take many years. Guessing, but this historic town feels like it is in the clutches of greedy evil leadership. Paying to park in a town that is already hard to park in is simply wrong. Yes, the town is historic, yes this town has quite a few of unique shops. But, the feeling we had was that it catered more to local bikers and the lgtbq community. Borders on not being a family environment - more of an adults outing where you can go to the adult clothing store, go to the bar and stop at a store to pick up some crystals and then head over to for a reading of your palm..... PLUS when looking for places to stay or even looking at the town - there are OLDER pictures depicting what this town might have once been - no longer. Run down, sad and should just be avoided to let nature take it back into its fold.

The good: very nice downtown area, lots of different shops and things to see. Prices were what I would expect in a town that caters to tourists. People were friendly.

The info you need to know: parking was limited and driving was scary as the streets are very narrow. I recommend taking the trolley for an all day $6 pass to hop on and hop off. The dining in downtown was very limited especially for breakfast as spaces were small. Many restaurants closed on Wednesday. The sidewalks are not smooth which adds to the historic feel but could be dangerous for someone with mobility issues. Also, built on a mountain so no flat streets!

The historical district has become little more than a tourist trap. It is hard to find places to eat and the prices are ridiculous. Parking is limited on one side of the street and the public parking will cost you $5 for 3 hours. This destination is not one you want to go on with a family, it is way too expensive. We hadn't been back to visit this area in over 20 years and I was sorry to see the impact too many tourist have caused on the area.

This is such a cute little town. There are old buildings, some with odd shapes, with narrow streets that are hilly. Lots of shops and restaurants to see. We drove through on a weekday so it wasn't so busy but during a weekend it is recommended that you park and ride the trolley to get around.

We didn’t buy anything but just going in the buildings built in the 1800’s was worth it. The stores are really neat and fun. A lot of eclectic stuff. Soaps, pet stuff, candles, incense. Plenty of clothes. Cafes and coffee shops. Jewelry. Anything you could want is here! There is a trolley ride that might be useful because parking was complicated. I would definitely go back!

I feel that writing a review of a historical shopping area is going to be unavoidably subjective. But it’s even tougher to do in this period of COVID-19.

In one sense Eureka Springs’ Downtown is a fun visit mainly due to its incredible character. The nostalgic historical architecture winding along its hilly streets equals something you can’t help but admire.

On the other hand, the shopping experience is pretty lacking and offers very little in terms of variety. Making it worse are the weird hours of some stores. In fairness a couple were closed due to the coronavirus. Others had these random off days which was frustrating. So be sure and check the hours of stores you want to visit before picking your day downtown. And get there early if you want to park. It’s very limited and annoying unless you get lucky or don’t mind walking a long way to your vehicle.

Again, some of that is completely subjective. If you like novelty stores, souvenir shops, and the occasional clothing boutique you may enjoy yourself. Just call and nail down the hours before deciding which day of the week you visit.
