About
Come and join us at Diamante Falls! After an invigorating hike up the mountain, and a dip in one of the natural pools, you will enjoy lunch in an amazing open air cave nestled between twin waterfalls perched high above the Diamante. We offer several tours to the top of the mountain, including hiking, both beginner and advanced rappelling, canyoning, cliff jumping and swimming in magnificent natural pools beneath the falls. We offer one day and overnight tours with accommodations in the cave. We also offer tours to Baru falls. This tour is set atop beautiful waterfalls ranging from 60 to 120ft. Once at the falls, you are first trained on how to properly and safely rappel on a small training hill. After completion of this training, you begin your exciting 120 ft rappel down the face side of Baru Falls. Once you complete the rappel, there is a short hike to a spectacular viewpoint at the bottom of both waterfalls where there is a large natural 20ft deep swimming hole. You then have the option to engage in a variety of activities listed below. The objective of this adventure tour is actually dual purpose. Firstly, to face the challenge of walking over the face of a cliff. And secondly, we have found that many participants also experience a deeper faith through this symbolic step. For many, this can lead to a joyful breakthrough in growth.

This was one of the most unique hiking trips I have ever taken, and was a true experience to “write home about”. Not many people can say that they hiked up a mountain and spent the night behind Costa Rica’s tallest waterfall! Simply incredible!

Prior to traveling to Costa Rica, this was the itinerary item that made my friends and coworkers the most jealous of my trip. I told them that they couldn’t get ahold of me - I was going to be “off-grid”, sleeping behind a waterfall. Don’t worry though - the camping experience was still delightfully modern with running water and working toilets. Just don’t expect cell reception.

Although the hike up the mountain was challenging, our guide Jake kept a comfortable pace for our group of 4. We took frequent rests to learn about the local plants and animals — especially which plants we could eat. Halfway up the mountain was this lovely garden. Here, we tried a number of new fruits including my new favorite, the guanoabana.

At the top of the mountain we swam in freshwater water pools. It was a refreshing break and included a cliff jumping spot. From here, it was a small hike down to the cave where we spent the night.

The cave was surprisingly modern, while keeping a rustic appeal. There was a full kitchen for the guides to prepare our meals along with running water and flush toilets. However, there is no electricity so the cave was illuminated by candles at dusk.

We watched the sunset from the top of the waterfall and enjoyed tea and cookies. The tea was brewed from fresh herbs from the garden and was simply delicious.

Spending the night listening to the sounds of the waterfall was an enchanting experience. Words don’t do it justice; you must try it yourself.

We loved Abraham and our adventure at Diamonte Verde Waterfalls and jungle garden!
The hike was strenuous as we climbed what I think was 5000 steps but my family all trail runs in MT so we were fine with the exertion and loved the hike! Abraham seemed to know just the right pace the whole time we were hiking with him, never going too slow or leaving us behind when we were checking out the scenery.
Once we got to the garden the fun started and we got to smell and taste dozens of different herbs, plants, fruits and vegetables. Our favorite was the "magic berry"! We also enjoyed the bananas grown right there in the garden as a snack and filled our water bottles out of a spring fed water source.
Rapelling down the waterfall was a huge thrill! A little too much of one for my daughter who loved jumping off the other big waterfall into a deep pool! Carlos and Abraham exhibited their skill with kids and still got her to go down. She would have so regretted it if she hadn't!
Lunch in the cave was AMAZING! And the guys were so sweet, and even made coffee after!
Overall, our favorite adventure of this trip!

We had the pleasure of experiencing an overnight stay by Pacific Journey. I was traveling with my 4 year old and my husband.

The team has created one of a kind experience in the heart of Diamanté waterfalls. 1054 steep stairs that take you to a cave behind the waterfall with full kitchen and sleeping gear. We had a great week in Costa Rica and came across quite a fine group of individuals and their hospitality but our guide Diego Lopez’s hospitality was just exquisite. He gave us a lot of amazing information about the experience, cooked great meals for the entire day, and took us to the waterfall pools where we had great time bathing in nature. True experience of Pura Vida-“Pure Life”. As for the steps through the process:

Google maps took us straight to pacific journey tour where we used restroom and geared up to start the hike. From there, we took our car and parked just a few yards away and started the hike with everything we needed for the overnight stay and waterfall pool.

We consider ourself average hikers and we completed the hike in 2.5 hours including .5 hour stay at the garden little over mid way to the cave. The hike is a great workout and you will sweat!

About half way is the garden which is beautifully designed and has a great variety of flowers and herbs. We plucked some herbs to prepare tea and vegetables for the meals.

The paths were clear throughout the hike and a horse trail next to it to move supplies up the mountain. The cave was beautifully put together with mattresses, clean linen, restrooms and a bath house. Perfect place to unwind the city life. We sit behind the waterfalls and all the noise in your head gets washed away with the mesmerizing sound of the waterfall. After taking rest, we had herb tea and lunch of most famous Costa Rica Bamboo dish with corn tortillas, cole slaw, beans, chips and Salsa.

After that we made our way to the Waterfall pool which was about .25 km downhill. Sunset from the spot was beautiful. Upon our return we had coffee and dinner; fresh pasta from our chef Diego made from scratch with garlic toast, and salad. Eating freshly cooked and delicious food in such a setting is an epitome of hospitality.

Waking up to the sight and sound of the waterfalls was one of the most refreshing experiences! The next morning, Diego cooked a light breakfast for us (per our request) and then we headed back. On our way back, we completed the majority downward hike in an hour.

This is an experience that we highly recommend to anyone trying to unwind and refresh! This is as close to nature as you can get but with comfort of great food and accommodation! The tour guide and the owners were so welcoming and made sure that we were comfortable and safe throughout!

WOW!
We did the overnight adventure and it a fantastic experience loved every minute of it. We arrived at the office and was made to feel welcome. There was a room which we were able to leave our luggage safely while on the trip. We were driven from the office in a 4x4 to start the hike, we set off hiking to the organic garden then had a tour and explanation of the plant's. Then hiked from their to the waterfall which was great and all the beds were already set up for everyone to use. There are 2 flushing toilets and 2 showers. The food and drink was all home made by the guides using organic produce from the garden and tasted lovely. After lunch you hike up to swim in the pools then back to cave for tea/coffee and later hike to another waterfall to watch sunset, then hike back in the dark (take a torch) with the guides pointing insects and things out.
On returning to the cave your evening meal is made then sit round the fire till bed time. Slept really well, had breakfast then headed back down to the office to collect our luggage and leave. A once in a lifetime experience would and already have recommended.

5 star experience led by 6 star guides. Diego & Greta made our very adventurous, soaking wet experience a memory maker for our family of 4 adult sized peeps. His ability to spot the tiniest critter while maintaining a manageable pace was impressive. Our outdoor family loved every step of our day including a waterfall swim, rappel, and cave lunch. Highly recommend to able bodied adventure lovers looking for an unforgettable experience.

This was the highlight of our two week trip to Costa Rica. The cave has room for about 25 people and they said they expected it to be filled to capacity on the weekend, but on a weekday when we went there were just 5 of us, and only 4 the night before and the same the night after. We met at 8 am, hiked up to the waterfall, rappelled down, had lunch, hiked up to another waterfall where we jumped off a 7 m cliff and swam, then came back down to the first waterfall/cave where we had tea and later dinner. Sleeping in the cave was a great experience. Its actually not so much a cave behind the waterfall but a large overhang next to the waterfall. They provide sleeping bags and mats on top of platforms, so it is very comfortable. The food was REALLY good – so impressed what the guides can cook in the cave with limited equipment. There is plenty to eat at every meal. The following morning we hiked to the big waterfall for pictures before heading home. The swimming hole at the second waterfall is the nicest I have ever seen, and I’ve probably swam at 50 waterfalls or more. A great value and a great family adventure. Highly recommended.

This was a truly memorable experience! The hike up to the cave was doable but no too easy, you definitely felt like you earned it when you finally got there. My friend and I went with one very knowledgeable and friendly guide and a family of four. The cave was incredible and we slept underneath a waterfall, one of the most memorable places I’ve ever slept. The sunset was incredible to watch and afterwards we saw some of the night creatures on the shirt hike back to the cave.

I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone willing to do a little hike! Compared to the many crowded tourist activities in Costa Rica this felt like a breath of fresh air. You will not regret this trip!!

We went in with zero expectations and left blown away by the experience! Our guide Jake was outstanding. His knowledge was all encompassing regarding the ecosystem. The hike was both challenging and beautiful. the views were amazing! The falls were gorgeous and loved swimming in the natural pool at the bottom of one of them was invigorating. Water crystal clear. I would highly recommend both Jake Weigandt, our guide and the Pacific Journeys

This was a highlight of our entire Costa Rica trip. My finance and I did the day trip. Diego was our guide and he was extremely knowledgable and had a sharp ear and eye for unique birds and monkey's throughout our hike. This hike is pretty steep so be prepared for that. The views, food, coffee, and swimming made it all worth it! We saw toucans, monkey's, frogs, and learned a lot of the plants in the gardens. Diego was also great by offering to take pictures and videos for us as we jumped from the waterfall.

Definitely recommend this hike with this company!
