You have to register at the information center of the park. The staff was really helpful and friendly. Because I was not feeling very well we could not take the footprint hike. We took the information trail instead. It was quite a climb up hill. It was okay, but I would not recommend it per se. I’m sure the other trails would have been amazing.

We read a lot about this Park and decided to go to Borjomi specifically just to do some of the trail hikes. First, the National Park was 2km away from our hotel (we misread this part, as there was another small Historic Park, not to be mistaken). From our hotel, we walked to the National Park Visitor Center, which is on the main road. Depending on where you're coming from (we came from the Beauty Bridge, which is right by the City Centre), it's quite a long walk on the main road and the sign disappears. Finally, we reach the Visitor Centre; and after talking to the Guide, we decide to do the Blue Trail, which is Trail #1 for the day hike. It's called: NIKOLOZ ROMANOV TRAIL. This trail is located somewhere else, so you have to take a Taxi to get there. Make sure you have this written in Georgian to give to the Taxi driver.

The Taxi driver dropped us near a farm house. There were NO signs of where to go next, as the Taxi Driver wasn't aware of the exact trail, but luckily we were told by the locals where to begin the trail. Luckily, there's a small sign on the street that says "Camp Parking" which pointed to specific direction. That's where the trail begins...and over time, you reach a barn looking gate, with the color coded trail marks on the tree branch.

The trail itself was a forest trail. It wasn't scenic as we thought it would be, compared to other hikes we've done in other countries (Machu Picchu, Annapurna, Milford Sound, Seoraksan, etc).. It was relaxing & a good workout, but I don't think you'd have that rewarding view at the end. Can't speak about the other trails though...Maybe there were other views or better scenery making it worthwhile.

On the way back, it's a long walk to the main road, so arrange a time with the driver for a pick up. Overall, we expected more from this experience. Having done the Kazbegi hike, we thought that was very rewarding & memorable compared to this one.

For hiking trips, day trips as well as multi-day trips, this region offers one of the best experiences in Georgia. There are multiple beautiful, marked, and well maintained trails, most of them starting in Borjomi. Along the way, you will find shelters and sources of water. You cannot compare it to national parks in the U.S., but compared to other regions in Georgia, this is definitely the most developed national park.

You should definitely start at the visitor center, as they can provide you with otherwise hard to get maps, useful information and the obligatory permit. There are multiple taxis waiting in front of the visitor center, which can take you to the trailheads. Situated in the Lesser Caucasus, this region is a lot less crowded than Swanetia for example. On our three days of hiking in May, we met a total of five people. The shelter being a bit dirty until we cleaned up was really the only downside.

We visited the National Park in June.
The information office is about 20 minutes walk from the city Center and they offer great info about all treks and wildlife in the Park, a map ($3 GEL as contribution) and they also rent all camping equipment, bicycles and lockers.
We've done the Footprints trail and we were not dissapointed. There are public buses to access to the beginning of the trail. The views after reaching the highest point of the trail are amazing. All the way to the end of it we found it really enjoyable! It's a great option for those who love trekking but have only time for a day trek. It's 13kms in total.

Went for a 5 hour hike in the National Park. We followed the black route and went all the way to the top. although a bit tough it was well worth the panoramic view of Borjomi and surrounding mountain ranges.

There are probably many paths and places to go, but we've followed green line and the trip has an amazing view to whole Borjomi. It is 2 hours by walk and not so hard, but definitely worth it!!

I've visited Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park many times. Every visit was really joyful. There are several hiking trails there, and the most popular one is trail towards mountain called Lomis Mta (translated as Lion Mountain), where you can stay in a nice cottage that has an oven in it. Every trail starts from the bottom of the different mountain, and most of the hiking time you have to spend in the woods while taking up height. However, wonderful views and nice cottage are waiting for you near the top of the mountain. Trails difficulty are moderate. If you have been backpacking several times, it won't be much problem.
P.S. Before you start hiking do not forget to visit Borjomi-Kharagauli National Park Administration, which is located on the west side of town Borjomi.

We have decided to hike half day in the park. The trail is 7 km long, so it's short. It is very steepy up and even more steepier down. You walk in trees all the time. There is only one moment you can see some view. It's nice but not worth climbing. You can see it on my photo. If you decide regardles take hiking sticks you will need them while going down. They also offer horseback ridind on this route but it would be cruel. This park is proper for few days walks, animal waching but not for picturesque spots.
