The interpretor met me near the Basilica in Filandia and provided a ride into the preserve (about 2 km). The host provided a short orientation about the area and then we began our 4 km hike. It was a fairly rugged trail through the dense forest.

Along the way we were very fortunate to not only hear an extremely loud confrontation between two families of Howler monkeys, but we also spotted 4 or 5 different families ranging from an apparent single male to a large family of about 14. In total we saw 30 to 40 Howler monkeys (the host said this was a very rare occasion).

I love hiking and the trail was fairly difficult, but we proceded slowly and there were many spots to rest while we were viewing the beautiful flowers, trees and wildlife.

This was the highlight of my trip to Colombia.

We really enjoyed our walk in the Reserve with Alvaro. We walked quietly in order to see birds and howler monkeys. Alvaro taught us about different insects, plants, trees, pods and seeds that we found on the land. We visited a beautiful waterfall. Alvaro is also great at making howler monkey sounds so they come and 'talk' to us. He is genuinely in love with the land, the plants and animals and that is evident as he walks you thru it all. Go and enjoy

Alvaro and his dad have been super kind and friendly since the beginning. The walk last around 3/4 hours and we had the luck to see many screaming monkeys. We also saw a little waterfall and overall we had a great morning. Highly recommend!!! Luca e Pablo ..

We do not believe that they took us to the reserve because nowhere was there information that we were in Barbas Bremen. We went to a private farm (the guide opened a barbed wire fence) where we took a 40m walk along the river and then climbed to a hovel where a young man lives who are said to be a bit crazy (but we considered living in harmony with nature).
The guide David, though very friendly, proved to be unfamiliar with the habitat.
And the visit ended without us having felt that it had begun.
Lastly the driver, upon bringing us back, accepted passengers without asking us anything since we had paid 140,000 pesos for a "private" tour.
Nothing recommend this agency

We had the best experience in our trip to the coffee region here! Alejandro our guide we called the real Colombian Rambo! He was absolutely amazing, knowledgeable and also you can see he loves his job! We will never forget our walk in the Colombian Jungle. We saw beautiful birds and butterflies!
We couldn’t see the monkeys, however, we knew it you can guarantee nature and the walk was so wonderful that we enjoyed every minute!
We hope Don Alvaro will continue managing this amazing reserve and to Alejandro many many thanks for all the experiences and wildlife knowledge you shared with us!
Diana and Peter!
