John C - I am so glad you enjoyed your "learning experience" at our Museum. Who knew that learning about equipment testing and development can be so entertaining?

You need driver's licenses and they do a background check before you can proceed. The museum itself will take at least 2 hours to do it justice. There are great displays and videos. We skipped on half-hour video because we were hungry! There is no...More

This museum offers a unique view of the history of the Yuma Proving Ground. Docent Vince gave a personal viewpoint as he worked here for several years. The history goes from Patton’s training grounds to GPS development as well as ordnance testing. It’s off the...More

I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to the Museum. DOCENT Vince is indeed a treasure. His personal attachment to our history of service to our Nation really adds to the visitor's experience.

The photo of the helicopter is not accurate as this site is primarily for armor display. Can see old Army armor (WWII through Viet Nam) and old missiles and rocket launchers. Fun for the kids.More

Extra fascinating freebie, on the way back to Yuma: To avoid red tape, I just stopped a while to view the tank and helicopter exhibits available outside to sightseeing tourists driving by the military base.

It is a nice place to take a break, isn't it? Some day when you have more time I hope you can brave the red tape (it is not too onerous) and visit us at the Museum / Heritage Center.

A small but good selection of vehicles and rockets you don't see anywhere else. Recommend visiting in the morning if you are going in the summer to avoid the heat.
