On the Monday after the Sunday main geocaching event at Yuma Crossing to bid farewell to the Canadians heading for home. The locomotive also has a geocache hidden under it.

Good place
Dec 2019
It is a good place to walk, relax, take the children for a walk and share a good meal outdoors with the family.

Stop at the Park accross from Old Town Yuma it looked very nice on the AZ side , had bike paths and walking paths along the Colardo river and clean. The California side needs help in reference to appearance.

Many Interesting Attractions in a Historic Area
Mar 2019
The Heritage Area has a lot of offer in a small area centered around the former ferry and riverboat landing on the Colorado River (hence the name "Yuma Crossing"). It's not just one attraction but a whole group of different historic sites. I recommend starting at the Visitor Information Center on N. 4th Avenue to learn about all the points of interest and plan your visit. The Info Center is located at the entrance to the Colorado River State Historic Park (fee) so that might be your first stop- to see the restored Quartermaster Depot. It's possible to walk from the Info Center on the paved trail along the Colorado River to Gateway Park, Riverside Park and the Territorial Prison State Historic Park, or venture even further to the East and West Wetlands areas. There is a beach for swimming/wading, a playground, and some good fishing spots. Many educational signs throughout the Heritage Area explain the significance of the various sites. There is a restored steam locomotive on display next to the Garden Inn Hotel, and the Yuma Territory Live Steamers operate a miniature train ride on 2 weekends per month at Riverside Park (cooler months of the year). The historic downtown Main Street is just a few blocks away from the river and offers restaurants and shopping as well as public art. There are restored adobe residences in the downtown area as well and also small museums like the Sanguinetti House and Yuma History Museum. Nearby the Armed Forces Park honors our Veterans. Most of the amenities seemed to be fairly new and this appears to be a developing area. We spent a day walking around and did not have time to see everything so we're planning to go back again.

Nice walk and some history
Jul 2019 • Family
A good park with something for every one. Sitting behind the hilton garden inn this is a nice walk to the prison. The park its self has a few things to do for children and would be a nice place for a picnic. You could also go swimming in the river which many people were doing on the hot day. Lots of fish were in the shallows. The park was very clean and also had a vintage steam locomotive at one of its entrances.

nice layout with steps to the river
May 2019 • Couples
We stayed at the Hilton Garden which is next door to this park and walked over and saw the train able to go into the cab which was interesting. there were information signs along the path and steps down to the river but you have to walk a short distance to gateway park to go into the river to swim the steps also connect to more paths along the river very peaceful not handicap accessible

Cool Steam Locomotive
Jan 2019 • Family
We visited the train when we were in Yuma. We thought it was pretty cool. I have always loved steam engines. Our grandsons were excited to see it and climb up on it.
