About
Built on elevated terrain, this track is considered deceptively difficult as water comes into play on nine of eighteen holes and many of the approach shots are made from uneven lies.

Played this course a few times this winter. Decent price if you play in the afternoon. The carts are in good shape. And for the most part so is the course. Greens are very good. Lots of water holes. One of the best courses in the Yuma area.

I do enjoy this old Arnold Palmer course, but I feel for the homeowners that line this track. you can see from the volume of broken roof tiles that this residential course was built way too tight to the fairways for today's golf club technology. that's a shame for them!

My wife and I have been playing at Mesa Del Sol since 1987 as snowbirds. This is a mature golf course with physical room for improvements. However, in all that time, the green fees this season are the lowest they have ever been and more than make up for the condition of the course. Mesa Del Sol is not a cow pasture, it is a good, solid golf course. Water on 50% of the holes with several long and wide fairways which will engage the abilities of all the golfers who play here. There are several other courses available within a 25 mile radius, but the Mesa is just as challenging as any of them!

Fairways are like pavement no grass that holds ball up. Some greens in bad shape. Is difficult to put a tee in teeboxes. Is the worst shape I have seen it in 8 years. They were able to bring the price up even though the course has gone backwards. I have golfed it every week nov to March for last 8 years but quiting going as of now.

From the moment we arrived the service was spectacular. The pro-shop. The cart team. Everyone. The course was in stellar condition with just the right amount of challenge to keep you on your toes. Beautiful course. Flawless customer service.

This course needs lots of tender love and care. The greens are like concrete and rarely green, the fairways are brown. I guess if they don't have to mow it saves them money. Never saw any grounds keepers. It is a nice course gone downhill. It is also busy, I guess if people keep coming why bother.

I've played on this course since 1998 and it has changed ownership several times. The course has steadily declined and is now in the worst shape yet. The fairways are crunchy with little good turf under the ball, even in the middle of a fairway. Marshals are rarely seen and carts are allowed to drive all over including around the greens. Cart path only signs are routinely ignored. This is a bermuda turf course, but much of the grass has been allowed to die and no observable attempts at rehabilitation. The course needs to invoke a 90 degree rule for carts and enforce keeping carts at least 50 yards from greens. The course is now under new ownership and perhaps the new owners will turn this course around. Easily the poorest fairways of all the courses in the area.

My husband and i live in the yuma area and went to look at a home for sale on this golf course. the golf course seemed very run down. we currently live on a different golf course in the yuma area right now and we see grounds keepers out every morning as would be expected with a golf course, there is no comparison in the quality of these two courses. we were very disappointed and will most likely not look at any other homes in this area.

I've been to Yuma several times over the last dozen years or so to visit family and always try to find time to play two or three rounds of golf.. Mesa del Sol was one of my regular golf stops in the early years, but in recent years it had developed a reputation as run down so I haven't played it in 4 or 5 years. But I saw the reviews that indicated improvement so decided to play it again and was pleased with what I found. The course is in very good shape, the tee boxes and greens were in excellent condition. The fairways probably need one more season and they'll be where they need to be. The staff was friendly and courteous--even giving my son the Junior rate even though at 18 he was no longer a Junior.
Our pace of play was very good as we did get out ahead of several groups so were able to play in just over 3 hours. I've heard that the course can get slow during the height of the snow-bird season, so that is worth watching.
All in all, I've very glad to be able to return Mesa del Sol to my rotation of Yuma golf courses.

We were suprised how far away it was and arrived on time anyway, only to be told they were running one hour late.. They did manage to get out out 1/2 hour later but the course was very slow going. Greens were okay. Fairways were average to dry. Expected better for the money.

Evidently you haven't played at Las Barancas. If you deem the fairways at Mesa del Sol the worst in the area, then its obvious you don't mind ruining good clubs on the rocks under the 1/8" fairways at Barancas. I suggest you check other courses out before complaining about these fairways.
