Our family of 5 did the Antelope Canyon & River Adventure tour, a 12 hour tour that leaves just after sunrise from the Tusayan airport, flies over the canyon in a fixed wing aircraft for about 45 minutes, then arrives in Page AZ. From there you do a guided tour of Antelope Canyon, and then take a smoothwater motorized river raft ride on the Colorado, followed by a bus ride back to the Canyon South Rim.
We had a partly cloudy day but the flight over the canyon was awesome! What a great way to see the Grand Canyon. There were unfortunately a number of nicks and scratches on most of the windows so that made it a little more challenging to get great photos but the flight was smooth (we got lucky there as the currents were calm) and the views were terrific.
We then were met at the Page airport by our Native American guide for the Antelope Canyon tour, and that was a real highlight. Our guide (unfortunately I forget her name) was terrific, not just sharing interesting information but also showing us how to get some spectacular photos that we would have never thought to take.
We then went on to the raft ride, which was just under four hours. Unfortunately we got there about an hour before the scheduled start time of the ride so we had to wait for a bit, but we were comfortable. The ride itself is about a 15 mile ride that takes a bit less than four hours, with a stop to see some petroglyphs. Saw some cool sights, as you can tell from the pace it's far from a thrill ride, but was a very laid back, casual ride down the Colorado, and our guide was excellent.
After that, it was a bus ride back with a 40 minute stop at a trading post.
A pretty laid back but enjoyable day. Everything was done well. If you're looking for more of a thrill just do one of the air tours, but if what I described sounds good then you'll enjoy this tour.
