We found this wooden statue in the town centre. Interesting plaque about him (presumably the local Bradley Burgers are huge). His mother bore 13 children, she deserves a statue too! The town itself is pretty & merits a morning's wandering. Good coffee shop(s) & possibly...More

In the centre of Market Weighton is a wooden statue of England's tallest man. He was born and lived in Market Weighton. The statue is a carved oak tree, beautifully crafted and a real feature of Market Weighton. Within a railed enclosure it is easily...More

Situated towards the west end of town, just before you start leaving in the apex of where the road splits towards York and Holme-Upon-Spalding-Moor. A great piece of sculptured work capturing one of those pieces of social history that the town is obviously proud of....More

I can remember this statue from being a wee child. He was the tallest man in Yorkshire. It has been carved out of wood and is preserved by the local council. He stands in the town square.

Still cannot believe the height of Bradley! Really good monument in MW with shops and restaurants nearby. Access to the statue itself was restricted by metal railings to deter the wild youths from burning the statue I guess.
