What a wonderful experience! We loved cooking with Chef Claudia and are so glad we got to take part in something so authentic. The dessert surprised us the most (containing chocolate mixed with black bean puree and mashed plantains -- it was DELICIOUS!)

Once you get off the boat, we recommend grabbing a Tuk Tuk (~10Q) right there unless you really, really feel like getting a glute exercise and walking about 15-20 minutes up a giant hill! The tuk tuk ride was fun and perfect for us. We arrived about 4:45pm by boat private and were finished eating around 7:00.

Clauida arranged a private boat back for us about 7pm coordinating with our hotel (La Fortuna) and also made a call to hail us a tuk tuk down the hill in the dark. We felt so cared for and enjoyed the traditional Guatemalan meal. Love that it supported the culinary program and the young chefs most of all. I would definitely recommend it!

My friends and I loved learning to cook authentic Guatemalan cuisine from Chef Claudia. She did a wonderful job dividing up the duties so even the youngest children in our class could help prepare the meal, and we all learned a lot about traditional Mayan foods. At the end of the class, we sat down at the CECAP patio, perched among the Santa Cruz rooftops, and the kitchen staff presented our meal with a culinary flair. Enjoying our beautiful food along with beautiful views of the lake was a fantastic way to end our trip to Lake Atitlan.

This cooking class was great. Small group. Great food. Learned a lot about the food and culture. And the people were so nice and accommodating. We went with our 3 year old and 7 month old and they made us so comfortable.

My dad and I had a wonderful time learning to cook with Claudia and anther couple from Canada. Claudia asked us whether we preferred English and Spanish, and used both so we could both understand and learn. We made Pepián, tamalitos, and rellenitos, all traditional Guatemalan dishes. If there's a dish you really want to learn, you can ask ahead of time to see if they can teach that dish instead. Claudia was a warm and informative teacher and the food was wonderful. The meal was served on the patio with the spectacular view of the volvamos in plain sight. This is a class not to be missed!

This was such a wonderful experience. We had such a lovely time with Claudia learning to cook and hearing about the culture. Everyone is very friendly and the class is easy even if you do not cook often. The view from the kitchen and the restaurant is stunning. I highly recommend it!

With great view at the end of our class. Will recommend to anyone visiting the island. We were staying in San Marcos but was super easy boat ride away.

I knew that I was going to have fun in the class but my time with Claudia exceeded my expectations. I was living in Santa Cruz the month of November and would frequently visit Cecap. One day I met a couple who had taken the cooking class and they told me how much they enjoyed the afternoon. So I signed up. You will experience a cultural exchange you will not forget. After you have prepared the meal you will have a dinner with a million dollar view. You also will be supporting a culinary school which prepares local youth to work in restaurants around Atitlan.
