- TriplebockFairfax County, Virginia121 contributionsNice reptile park. Don't let the entrance fool you!Our extended family holiday included three boys aged 9-11, all of whom thoroughly enjoyed this little reptile park. We spent about an hour to see all the exhibits. When we first pulled up, we thought it might be closed or abandoned. It does not have a very fancy entrance. But we paid our fee and went inside. Inside is well maintained, with exhibits geared toward the natural environment of the animal(s) inside. There are benches sprinkled throughout, and some areas are under cover, which could provide shade or a dry spot during rain. As in most areas of Costa Rica, it is surrounded by naturally beautiful jungle, so you may view native birds and other wildlife, as well as the exhibit animals. We saw a wide variety of snakes, komodo dragon, monitor lizard, basilisk (Jesus Christ) lizard, crocodile, giant tortoise, water turtles. Each exhibit has a placard in both English and Spanish educating you about the species inside, their native habitat, whether or not they are endangered, and some information about them. The parents read the descriptions and the kids tended not to, but everybody had a good time.Visited December 2021Written January 5, 2022
- David 1964Virginia7 contributionsGo for the snakes. Stay for the birds.A great place to learn about and see local and regional reptiles. The only complaint is the glass. It is very reflective, making it difficult to see inside the cages. As a side note, the bird life was fantastic. The grounds have a variety of flowers so there are lots of hummingbirds along with a diversity of other colorful birds. That was worth the money alone. We spent more time birding than looking at the exhibits. Bring your binoculars.Visited June 2022Traveled as a coupleWritten June 6, 2022
- Bel HParrita, Costa Rica9 contributionsFantastic reptile experience!Best reptile park I've visited as the enclosures were created with careful thought to keeping the animals in a natural environment as possible. The grounds were beautifully kept with ample covered areas for a rainy or overly sunny day! We arrived at feeding time ... not for the faint-hearted!Visited October 2021Written October 4, 2021

The park has a wide range of reptiles, not just from Costa Rica. Really cool to see a Komodo dragon! Grounds were easy to get around, and relatively well groomed. Let's be honest, if you are not into snakes etc. the price is a bit steep. My wife was not overly thrilled. Also, most of the snakes are in terrariums ( not there natural habitat) and some of the enclosures could use some refreshing. One thing that bothered me was seeing a group of 4 guys getting some sort of special tour, including a feeding of the Komodo dragon. This wasn't anything I saw advertised anywhere, so maybe just a money making thing?

Amazing place for reptile viewing. The crocodile enclosure spooked me. The giant tortoises were cute. If you are into snakes there are a TON, maybe too many...? I also wish that the nursery had more to it on the day that we went. All in all, worth your time if you are travelling nearby Uvita.

The reptile park is very easily accessible from the road 243. The park has got an impressive collection of reptiles from all over the world. I am not an expert of how representative the collection is but it was very interesting to discover the different species and a pleasing stop overall.
Some reviews pointed out the poor maintenance, but generally everything was ok to my mind. In the bright daylight it may be difficult to see the snakes through the glass because one will see the reflection instead, so may-be this aspect needs addressing in the future.
