I just got back from my fourth trip to Dominical and the sole reason for going was to enjoy the Dominical Surf School experience. Each time, I go, I become more accomplished at surfing, overcome my fears of taking on bigger waves, and I relax like nowhere else in the world. Dominical Surf School is not just for surf instruction--although I would go just for the surf coaching. Dominical Surf School has grown to become a full service vacation experience. The owner is always helpful in arranging side adventures (she helped me book a paragliding adventure with a huge discount), or coordinating dinners by making reservations and getting us head of the line access to local events. This kind of experience is second to none. I am already looking to go back in April because the quality of instruction and the affordable price make Dominical Surf School the best choice for me.
Over the years, I have developed friendships there with other surfers around the world and these surfers keep coming back each year too.
Thank you Debbie for making my vacations so special.

Deb was amazing to work with from the beginning. She managed all our logistics for surf lessons for 10 people over 2 days along with board rentals for our more experienced surfers. She and her staff made surfing safe and fun. By the second day everyone from 11-53 was able to move up and catch green waves. She made sure our littlest surfers were well taken care of while managing the differences in ability of others throughout the week. Everyone had the right amount of attention. She let us switch out boards and was so helpful for our experienced surfers in telling them where to go during the week. I would highly recommend her for anyone wanting to learn to surf.

We've been to Debbie twice now - Christmas 2018 and Christmas 2019. She is so welcoming and fun, she couldn't do enough to make sure our trip was excellent each time. We surfed most days (I'm intermediate and each time I went to Debbie my surfing improved dramatically). Her format is a 2 hour session every day at different times depending on the tides. I never felt unsafe in the water so I could spend all my energy on catching waves and then actually doing something with them (practicing turns and switchbacks and going at different speeds depending on how I wanted to do things)... this is a big deal for someone who only surfs from time to time.Outside of surf time, any recommendation Debbie gave us on places to go, restaurants to eat in, taxis, walks etc .. were spot on, and we always had a great time wherever she recommended.
We booked straight back in with Debbie this year as soon as we decided to come to Costa Rica, as did several others who we met for Christmas 2 years in a row! Really nice vibe and lovely to see familiar faces... Debbie gets a lot of returning customers!

This surf school far exceeded my expectations! Debbie, the owner, leads a highly skilled team of instructors who are patient, accommodating, and easy to work with; I learned so much in a short amount of time. Our comfortable lodging (Mavi Surf Hotel which provided breakfast) and a few fun day trips were included in our surf school package. And the town of Domincial has a surprising number of restaurants, stores, and markets with plant-based options. I could not be more grateful for the experience and I'm looking forward to returning.

While staying in Jaco, we scheduled a family surf lesson (kids age 9 and 11) with Dominical Surf School. It was absolutely the highlight of the trip for the kids. The instructors gave great instructions, going over the dry-land training quickly and getting two hesitant kids into the water quickly. The instructors were patient and attentive and gave great feedback that had everyone riding waves quickly. We have already recommended Dominical to friends who are heading to Costa Rica, and would be delighted to visit again.

Great surflessons with really helpful an precise tipps to improve my surfing. Thanks to the small group size (max.2), the teacher had alot of time to observe my surfing and help me.
The whole team is so welcoming and has a great vibe so that you feel immediately confortable. They are really flexible and adjust to the conditions, so that you can make the best out of your time.

We rented boards and took lessons with Dominical Surf School over a month during the end of 2020. The kids and my wife (8yo daughter and 9yo son) took lessons and went from no experience to surfing with the help of the great instructors and flexibility of using different sized boards as their experience grew. Dominical Surf School is a great place for families or other people who might be intimidated by the aggressive surf culture some places promote. The greater Dominical area is great because depending on the tides and conditions Debbie and her team can meet or take you to beaches and breaks that are appropriate for that time and your experience!
We will be taking lessons again from Dominical Surf School over Thanksgiving 2021!!!

Great fun with a wonderful - and patient! - instructor. I've never surfed and actually stood up and "rode" the wave in four times - a great sense of accomplishment. We'll be back for sure!

Thank you Dominical Surf School crew for making this week of surfing be a fantastic, life-altering experience. We were a group of 12 amazing women who found our power and passion in part due to their phenomenal coaching. The coaches were able to grab hold of our habits within the 1st lesson and provide guidance and correction to each of us. Surf safety is as critical as having fun and we all had a ton of each. I am full of gratitude for the Surf School crew and can't wait to return in July and then make plans for more connections with them in the near future

My sons (ages 10 and 13) took 3 lessons during our week long vacation. It was definitely the highlight of their trip. Their instructors, Roberto and Alex, were great. They were able to channel my kids energy and enthusiasm, while keeping things fun and getting them actually surfing (their first time surfing ever). Highly recommend this surf school.
