About
The Goodenough Mine a historic site is one of the twenty five producing silver mines in the Tombstone Mining District, which started the mining boom, resulting in the incorporation of the City of Tombstone. When you take the tour, you will be shown through the original 1879 workings by a knowledgeable guide, and learn all about nineteenth century hard rock silver mining. You'll see what the ore looked like, learn how it was processed, see beautiful rocks and minerals, and artifacts and structures that have been in place for 130 years. This is one of the mines owned by Ed Schieffelin, the founder of the town, part of the Tombstone Mill and Mining Company, which he founded as well. The Goodenough Mine Tour is the most authentic and unique attraction in the City of Tombstone, and you'll see the results of the hard work of the miners. It's an experience that you will enjoy. Tours are approximately 45 min. We also have Panning for Gold, Historical Trolley Tour of Tombstone and more...

We did Tombstone day trip from Scottsdale and decided to do the Goodenough mine and trolley tour (same company, the trolley was an extra $5 at time of purchasing the silver mine tour). The silver mine tour was excellent. We’d a lot of people, approx 36 in our group but he made sure everyone heard him and saw everything he was pointing out. It lasted about 45-60 minutes total. Totally worth the cost. The trolley tour was informative, learned a lot about the history of Tombstone. Eating was a problem, no good choices. Very touristy but understandable once you get there. Tourism is everything to Tombstone. It would be very helpful if the town managed the tourism though instead of multiple groups competing for same stuff.
Goodenough tour was definitely the highlight!

My wife and I visited Tombstone and went on the Goodenough Mine Tour. The tour consisted of two parts: A bus tour of Tombstone and an underground tour of the Goodenough Silver Mine. Recommend that you take both tours since it gives a better perspective of what Tombstone was like in the 1880s. Most people only hear about the Earps and Clantons but, there is much more to Tombstone. It was the silver mines that attracted most people to Tombstone and there is a lot of silver still in Tombstone. The bus tour of Tombstone gives you a good perspective of the town's history and you get to see where various events occurred and where some of the more famous/notorious inhabitants lived. The underground mine tour helps you to understand what every day life was like for the silver mine workers. The guides are well informed and some of the friendliness folks that you will ever meet. When you are finished with the tours, my wife and I highly recommend a stop at the Tombstone Brewery. This local brewery has great beer to wash down the dust from the the streets of Tombstone. So if you are in southeastern Arizona make it a point to visit the Tombstone and the Goodenough Silver Mine. You will be glad that you did.

Forrest was our tour guide on this Goodenough Mine tour. He was VERY good at giving us the history of the mine and also very good at showing us the details of the mine. Also, he was very mindful about keeping us safe. We definitely recommend this tour if you want to know how the town of Tombstone started.

This tour is excellent. Our docent was quite knowledgeable and she made the trip very light with bad jokes and great history.
Clearly the owners have endeavored to make this tour accessible for nearly everyone. Several safety features have been implemented to protect people as much as possible. That being said this is a mine. Ground is uneven, rocky, elevation changes going up and downhill. Temperature is typically 68 degrees with 3-5% humidity. So its comfortable to walk the tour even if topside the weather is gut wrenchingly hot.
There is a stairway which is the first time I have seen such an excellent well made modern stairway in a mine. There are handrails as well. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and would definitely do it again.
It is quite remarkable when you learn the conditions the miners were subjected too. They were among the highest paid in the area. However the mines were rife with danger. Things we take for granted now did not exist then. You had no daylight down there, you were given 3 tiny candles that illuminate an area the size of a basketball. A commode did not exist down there. There was a cart on the rails that would move through the mine but were talking primitive. This type of life bred a person not seen today in our lives. A person that could adapt to survive not by choice but because his or her survival depended on it.
This tour is a must see when in Tombstone. I would do this and the Birdcage theater if nothing else. However there is a plethora of history and venues here. Spend all day or even two days here if your a fan of the old west, westerns and ghost towns or even a history buff.

Well worth the time and money to get a 1st hand look at what made this area famous in the beginning, mining
Specifically mining silver.
Its not what you think it looks like either.
Our guide Cheryl, was excellent yesterday. She took the time to make sure all 30 of us could hear and see she was showing us.
She kept us safe from hitting our head or tripping over rocks and explained what the miners had to deal with so long ago.
The tour is an interesting entertaining 45 minute history lesson. The way history should be taught, about real people.
I dont want to spoil the fun, you have to see this yourself.

Really enjoyed and highly recommend the "Good Enough Trolley Tour" We were able to see all of Tombstone's historical areas and learn the true history while sitting in the comfort of a motorized (enclosed) trolley. George, our tour guide and driver was factual and very entertaining. Would take this tour again!

Austin was our tour guide and he did a great job. He was very knowledgeable and had obviously put a lot of thought into the presentation, and made it very entertaining as well. The mine has many fascinating details and history to it and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Tombstone. Well worth the price.

What a fun, exciting, educational tour, thanks to our guide Amber. She was extremely knowledgeable and thorough in her narration and cracked a few jokes as well. We are native of Arizona and learned some things from this tour. If you visit Tombstone take time for this tour, it’s a must see and with any luck you get Amber as your guide!

George was an excellent guide during our one hour trolley tour taking us through time to show us the town of Tombstone in the 1880’s and what you haven’t heard about before. They had a public swimming pool in 1884 called the tank for instance. Lot of neat little details. Check out www.tombstone silver.com
The mine tour was the highlight. They have multiple options from a one hour Goodenough mine to a 7-hour extreme mine tour and a once a month dinner theater in a mine. Very cool.

The Good Enough Mine tour should be on your must-do list! Every aspect of this tour clearly illustrates the details experienced by the miners of the 1800s. Detail has been paid to show an authentic rendition of the mine.
Our guide was Cheryl... I hope she is your guide, too! Cheryl is knowledgeable and fun to tour the mine with. There's something interesting to see around every corner or turn, and Cheryl explains it all so clearly!
For families with children, bring them along! They will never forget the adventure of walking into an authentic 1800s mine. It is amazing!
Yeah, Kathy and I had a great time... Take the tour and you'll easily discover why!

Are reservations possible and are they necessary during busy times? If not, how much time in advance of a tour do you recommend to be sure I can buy tickets before selling out a tour?

I’ve gone twice and both times I just went and checked and signed up for a time. Once it was the next one in 10 minutes. Another time we signed up for an after lunch tour.

How accessible is the tour for my elderly father on a cane?
Written October 9, 2019
The terrain underground is slightly uneven, and there is a flight of stairs to contend with. If you're in Tombstone, it's not difficult to go to the mine and have a chat with the team there - I'm sure they'd be able to give you an idea of what's involved before you get past a point of no return!

What ever happened to Sam, the guide we had? My husband and I brought our friends from Florida to take the tour, but we really wanted to have Sam do our tour. Since he wasn't there we didn't do it. So disappointed 😞!

Adults are $15, not sure on children. Our Guide Sam and also the Manager were very knowledgeable about the mine and town history. We loved the tour! Lasted right at and hour and was well worth it!

Hi! We plan on making our way back to Tombstone at the end of July. Will the mine be open then? We were there last year in September, and it was closed.
Written January 13, 2018
Yes, it will be open. New owners, and open every day except Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. And by summer, the tour will be expanded to include the next-door Toughnut mine.
You'll love Tombstone. Take a look at Gotombstone ...city maps, area maps, lots of info.
Also -- we are having a big 25th Anniversary of the movie Tombstone, a celebration on the June 29 and 30 weekend... with an extra celebration then about the 10th Cavalry Buffalo Soldiers, mostly black guys, who set out from nearby Fort Huachuca back then to fight the Apaches... took 20
years and 14 Medals of Honor, but they finally tricked Geronimo into surrendering. Hope you can come then!

Hi I am going to Tombstone in May and want to do this tour but can't get a lot of info online. Do you just turn up or do you have to prebook? I see that is it opened from 10am-4pm. Not sure if you are able to help me but would appreciate it if you can. How much is it, how long does it go for, do they have set times for the tours as in every hour etc?
Thanks

its an excellent tour, the guides are very informative, the mine maintains a constant temperature of 60° and is $12 every hour and lasts about an hour
and like gilliansc said its better than the ok coral gunfight...... just down the street is another gunfight a comedy one that was excellent and lasted an hour. as opposed to the ok corals 7 minutes the whole town is a hoot nosey kates saloon, birdcage theatre and the stores are awesome and a trip to Bisbee is well worth it and a mile past Bisbee is the abandoned ghost town and mine the town is full of antique cars and inhabited by 5 ppl ...have fun
