As sunset was approaching during our one night in Sedona, we asked for a tip on where to go, and we were sent here. There is a $3 charge for parking which is not unreasonable and did allow us to find a parking spot nearby. There was a large crowd already there 15-20 minutes before sunset. Nonetheless, it was worth coming here since sunset is undoubtedly the most beautiful time of the day here.

It's a great view of the sunset, but there was just too many people. Not any social distancing, however, people were wearing masks which was good. But since there was so many people it was hard to get a picture without a bunch of heads in the picture. There are probably other places better to look at the sunset.

Best views in Sedona! We went to the airport overview lookout spot and parked in the parking lot for $3 (which is good for all day) around 4:00 PM. There were only a few people taking photos at that time and the views were incredible. We did the short hike around the mountain for some more great views which wasn’t too bad as the weather was cooling down. By the time we got back to the parking lot around 5:45 the sun was setting and the lookout spot was packed with people. I would definitely recommend going earlier to avoid taking pictures with the crowd.

This short .2mi hike up a well maintained mesa has the best orientation view of sedona, west sedona, south and north oak creek canyon
Many come for the sunset. But just to stop by to see the view of all the major rock formations in the area is fantastic. From here you can start the 4mile airport loop trail. Parking very limited to 10-12 cars. So hit and miss for parking. I think this is a must stop here in sedona.

This is nice overlook to see the sunset. There are some nice areas to see sunset but this is easy and convenient. There is a paid parking lot I think about $3 I would bring cash to make it easier. The area can get a little crowded and most people stand. This spot is not the vortex. The vortex is at the beginning part of the road as you head up the hill. There is a small parking lot to walk up to the vortex. You can hike it from the vista parking lot which is about .5 mile hike. The weather was great with no clouds in sky which in some ways made the sunset nice but not amazing. Sometimes clouds can add a nice dimension to the sunset. One thing I would do next time is actually go in the morning for sunrise. When the sun rises and hits Thunder Mountain makes it look great. We were there after sunrise and the colors on the rocks looked great.

We got there a little too close to sunset to really enjoy the experience. Also, big crowd, not a lot of distance and masks seemed to be a foreign concept so during Covid-19 days it was a little disconcerting. Probably better to hike up the trail just before the airport overlook and get the bi-directional view of the sun hitting the Red Rocks to the East and then swing around to see the light illuminating the mountains to the West as it sinks.

This is a good spot. If the lower lot is full, drive on up to the top, where there is plenty of parking for $3. There is a nice overlook at the top. Then you can hike down to the vortex plateau by the lower parking lot and look towards the south. Beautiful. This is where most folks want to view. It will be about a 25 min hike down from the top parking lot. Just remember, you have to hike back up!! It's a good trail. Allow 90 minutes to 2 hours. There are Port a Potties in that upper parking area. Take advantage of those before hiking down :-)

by far the BEST place to take in the beauty of Sedona. For 3 dollars to park it's a very very short walk to the area that one can view the wonderful sights of the mountains. It has it's beauty ALL the time, but sunset is the best time

Not worth the $3 for parking. So many people standing around that it is hard to get a good picture of the beautiful lighting against the rocks. There’s also an ugly metal fence in the way.

If you just want to go there and enjoy the sunset with a bunch of people and not worried about catching COVID then this might be worth your time. Be sure to get there at least half hour before sunset to enjoy the lighting.

I drive to the top of the hills to get a view and it is worth the $3 they charge to park. It's a large lot, unlike the pulloffs alongside the roads that are always full. You get a great view of the famous rock formations and Sedona far below. You can also hike to the vortex from here. There are port-a-johns if you need a bathroom break.
