We chose A Day in the West primarily because they are a dog-friendly company - our lapdog rode for free. I took my parents and my family with kids 5-10 and we loved the views! Our driver was Colorado Dave and he shared lots of great information about the plants, the path, and history of Sedona and the trail. Apparently the Mogollon Rim trail used to be a gravel pathway that was safe for vehicles, but hasn't been maintained and is now a VERY rocky ride that needs offroading vehicles. Two of our adults are grateful we did the tamest path and now know that jeep tours aren't for them. The children loved the ride. We had the dog in a Ruffwear dog harness so she was strapped into the seatbelt too (she generally wasn't a fan of the bumps either but weathered it fine).
Frankly I love that because of COVID all of the tours are private tours. It means that you can modify the journey however you want, including ending it early if you so choose. Colorado Dave was fantastic about seamlessly pausing and giving us a chance to recover after a particularly bumpy portion...always under the guise of giving us a view or information but it was skillfully thoughtful without ever mentioning it. Lots of other jeeps from different companies passed us along the way and I love that he took us at our pacing AND managed the timing so we were back on time.

Alexis, we are ecstatic to hear you and your family had a great time with Colorado Dave! Sedona is full of wonder, and our Mogollon Rim trail is a rough one but the views are incredible. We are glad to hear Dave took a pace that fitted your family's needs. Our guides take pride in creating the best experience possible and we are glad you came along with us to experience it. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and for choosing A Day in the West!

Colorado Dave gave us a fun, rough ride over rocks and impossibly steep trails that could only be conquered by serious 4-wheel drive vehicles. Dave pointed out historical sites and facts and gave an overview of flora and fauna in the area. We had a great time but would have easily flown out of the back of the Jeep many times without having our seatbelts on. We were covered with the fine, red dust of Sedona and very hungry for lunch after the 2+ hour tour. This tour would not be fun for the faint of heart or someone who's pregnant.

Robert, we are glad to hear you had a fantastic time on your jeep tour! Yes, some of our trails are rougher than others, and definitely would not recommend any of our tours to pregnant women or younger children. Dave and all of our guides know all there is to know about Sedona, and we are glad to hear you left knowing a little more about it. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and for choosing A Day in the West!

New Years day Jeep ride with Wyatt was wonderful. Great for the more senior set and the adult children. Full of information and such beautiful country. Just ruff enough to make it a thrill without throwing damage :) Wyatt kept things interesting without being corny. He had great recommendations for what more to do in Seattle.

We are glad you broke-in the New Year with one of our tours. Taking a jeep tour is a perfect way to not only learn about Sedona but get great information on what there is to do in Sedona. We thank you for sharing your adventure with Wyatt and for choosing A Day in the West!

Although the trail we booked was closed due to too much rain, they accommodated us on a different tour which was also nice. We chose this company because they welcomed our grand puppy to ride along. The heated seats was a nice touch with it being cold in December. Price was reasonable with Groupon and no hassle using discount.

We are glad to hear our team was able to accommodate you and your fur baby. What's a tour without your doggie? We are glad you enjoyed the heated seat we provide during these colder months and enjoyed the alternative trail you had received. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience and for choosing A Day in the West!

Our tour guide/Jeep driver was Wild Bill. He made the experience just average because he was not enthusiastic at all during the tour. He was very scripted and quiet for the majority of the tour, offering little information along the way. The tour should not be described as simply bumpy. It was much worse. Anyone with back/neck problems should avoid this tour altogether. The seatbelts in the Jeep did not work and were needed during the tour to keep you from falling out of your seat. The Jeep in general seemed old & rusty and was not street worthy as it swayed uncontrollably while in route to Schnebly Hill Rd. We were expecting to stop for photos, but only did so once, at the top of a hill. Bill refused to stop when asked otherwise. I would go with a different company next time.

"Wild Bill" needs to retire. He seemed put out to be doing the tour. He even informed us the tour we selected was too bumpy and he selected a different one FOR US. He ignored us when we tried to engage with him and seemed unable to more than regurgitate the same lines he'd been saying for years. The main point of the tour (and the reason I wanted the chosen tour) was to take photos... unfortunately, there was not much for photos on the tour he rerouted us to. Really with we'd gone with the Pink Jeep's, they seems newer, better shocks, and their tour guides seemed awake and friendly. This is what I get for using a Groupon... you get what you pay for!! Still, it wasn't worth $210

My wife and I took the Diamondback Gulch Jeep tour from A Day in the West. It was fantastic. Our driver, Dave (aka Colorado) gave us a lot of information about the history of the area and was also a very good driver. The "road" was incredible, and I am really impressed that the modified Jeeps could navigate the terrain. The heated seats in the Jeep also made the cold temperatures more bearable. I highly recommend this tour.

2 hour cliffhanger tour - was only 1hr 40min and way overpriced. We were disappointed - I think we were matched w wrong tour guide for our family and we had high expectations based on the booking agents recommendations. The cliff tour was about 20min and the rest was black top road or dirt path and we got a serious geologic education of dead plants. Teens were bored and so were adults.

We are so sorry to hear you and your family did not get the experience you were looking for and a guide who made sure you guys had the best time. We are experiencing a major drought here in Arizona, and we a very sorry the landscape was not as lushes as it should look this time of the year. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience to improve for future guests. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope the next time you return, we can give you and your family a better experience!

We took the Mogollon Rim Tour based on the description of the beautiful scenery. The scenery and elevated views were superb, but was no mention of how extreme and bumpy the old trail road would be. So be prepared to be continually bounced off your seat and abruptly rocked and rolled for the majority of the 2 hour tour! Had we known, we wouldn’t have chosen this particular tour.

Our family of four and our pet did “A Day in the West” Lil’ Rattler, and our tour guide was Colorado! He did a fantastic job giving us a brief history and little known facts on the various canyons including the surrounding plants and animals! Colorado also gave us great suggestions on where to eat around Sedona - Cowboy Grill was a hit to taste elk, bison, and prickly pear cactus fries!
