Short version: If you haven't done a hike with Trail Lovers while in Sedona, you've truly missed out.

Long version (because it really was that good): Spoke with the owner Jason on the phone since we were dragging the kids (11, 13) with us. He immediately knew where to take us and within minutes we were booked for an 8am hike despite half of us not being morning people. *Best decision ever!* The hike was quiet and beautiful, and Jason was able to share so much information on the flora, the landscape, the politics of the area, and even a little background of how he came to do this (us entrepreneurs always enjoy those stories!). Our resting point was perfect and he laid out the prettiest and healthiest picnic of snacks where there was something for everyone - and my celiac daughter was taken care of! The hike definitely hit the #1 thing to do on our list of favorites on this trip. Snoopy and Lucy were on show and we found Donald Trump too!

We enjoyed the hike and company so much, that when our flight got cancelled we immediately booked another hike for us adults and this time agreed to the 7am suggestion. Again, best decision ever! The views were breathtaking and he knew my husband really wanted to fly his drone and take pictures so he made sure the area was not a no-fly zone.

They really take the time to listen to what you want and cater to you, and they come prepared with everything. If they suggest an early morning hike, just do it - we were the only ones at the start of our trail and on our return the parking lot was swamped! Not once did we feel like we were being rushed and we were all very comfortable with the trail and effort. I'd recommend them over and over!

We took 2 hikes in 2 days with Jason and Derek, during beautiful intermittent rain, one of which was a "moonlight" hike into the dark.

The scenery and challenges we both appropriate and magnificent.

Having guidance as well as company, experts in the history and science of Sedona made it incomparable.

My family was literally thrilled.

We will book hikes and adventures every time we return, with confidence in safety and experiential transcendence beyond the passing observation of the countryside!

We spent New Years Day hiking in the Red Rocks National Park with Jason. It was a complete treat! Jason runs a really professional business at Trail Lovers Excursions, he had selected a hike that was stunning and he both entertained and educated us for the duration. His passion and knowledge of the ecology, geology and history were impressive. Our hard work was rewarded with a delicious organic picnic taken on a rocky plateau, high above the valley floor with the most incredible views. We are looking forward to collapsing into bed exhausted but very happy with the wonderful start we’ve had to 2020.

We did the Dark Sky hike and we absolutely loved it. Jason, our guide, was the best best best. Ahead of time he knew what hikes we had already done in the area and chose a perfect climb we hadn’t done before that would afford us the best views in the area during sunset. It was amazing to have the mountain top all to ourselves as darkness fell and then to sit quietly and soak in the night sky was an unforgettable experience. We had ample time to enjoy it before making our way down with headlamps. Jason entertained us with well selected stories and we laughed all the way down. It couldn’t have been a better experience. The only down side, we left town before having the opportunity to go out on a second hike with Trail Lovers.

I’ve now spent the past six days in Arizona, first in Sedona and then down and up the Grand Canyon. I’m having a hard time coming up with words to describe my experience. Like a beautiful poem or painting, it’s the meaning, the feeling, in the spirit of the place that makes it unforgettable. I asked Jason to arrange a personalized three-hour hike so I could FEEL Sedona with all of my senses. Wow! Did he deliver. Every. Single. Detail. Jason’s quiet soulful presence, encyclopedic knowledge of the flora, fauna and history of the Red Rocks and his ability to deeply connect with his travelers are qualities I hardly thought possible in such a young person. In life, the story is completely dependent on the storyteller. Don’t miss this experience! I am grateful for my precious time in Sedona and the perfect beginning of my trek into the Grand Canyon. Unforgettable!

Fantastic outfit.

Our excursions were very well planned. We had requested to avoid loop trails, so when we did six miles it was all new terrain. If you have any particular interests, such as photography, be sure to mention that when booking or to your guide. We arranged the timing of our hikes to hit a couple of key vantage points for a sunrise and sunset, respectively, so that my wife could take photos with a special camera. Snacks are provided for a brief break of 10-15 minutes (and we skipped it one day).

The guides are very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a pleasure to get to know them. Also, they are stewards of the outdoors and have monthly trail cleanups. They highly respect the outdoors.

I found the number of hikes in the Sedona area to be overwhelming and wasn't sure that I would make the right choices, whether doing them on our own or with a guide. I rang up Jason a couple of months in advance and said that I wanted to set up three hikes over a four day period and I wanted to see a variety of things. Basically, I put our choices into his hands, which proved to be wise. Our first hike was a night hike, which was a real treat. Our second day was the half-day traverse on their website. We made sure to leave early so that we could catch a sunburst over the mountains. Our third trip was Creekside by Cathedral for sunset. Our hikes were approximately 4.4, 6.2, and and 4.4 miles, which was just right for us. The pacing is adjusted to whatever suits you.

You would be well-advised to go out with these folks.

Finally, their booking emails are chock full of all sorts of other information about restaurants, hikes to do on your own, etc. Extraordinarily helpful.

On short notice, Jason (the owner) set my husband and I up with a half-day hike around and then up to the summit of Doe Mountain. Our trail guide was Zach, who did an outstanding & professional job. We were picked up at 8 am at our hotel, given three recommended hikes for the day, taken to our area for hiking and outfitted with everything we needed. Trail Lovers has poles, backpacks, extra water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, etc for the client’s use. Zach did a great job talking about the native plants, animals, birds, mountain ranges, wilderness areas, history of the area, technical hiking advice and more. He was thoughtful and accommodating and we had a lot of fun summiting this mountain! At the top, Zach provided a picnic blanket and snacks like apples, almond butter, fruit bars, cheese and crackers, electrolyte powder, etc. We were feeling happily tired by the time we descended and reached the van! Zach also gave us restaurant and other hike recommendations! This service is highly recommended and we will use it again!!!

We had guests in town and decided to do a guided hike. Trail Lovers Excursions topped every hope I had! Jason wowed us with his knowledge of everything Sedona - great stories of the colorful early founders, info about hiking and climbing spots that weren't on our itin, but might be in the future, his own antics in an around Sedona. Jason has an amazing sense of humor and compassion for preserving the eco-system of Sedona. On the hike, he continued teaching us about plants, insects, and terrain, and then a beautiful breathing and meditation session, reminding us to be in our bodies and in the present. When the snacks came out - wow. Delicious, fresh, and plentiful. All of our group had an incredible time, and it was one of the absolute highlights of their visit. Highly recommend Trail Lovers Excursions for hikers of all ages and abilities.

This was an amazing experience. I treated my young adult nephew to a one-on-one (or 2 and 1) guided night sky hike. Our guide was Jason; he picked us up in van with all the gear one needs for a hike. He was so informative, friendly, and comfortable to hike with. It was like hiking with a friend, but one whose breadth of knowledge covers the history of Sedona, ancient civilizations, the geological landscape, and current events and places to go in Sedona. We started at early dusk in Fay Canyon and hiked to the top of a mesa, where we took photos. When it got dark, we laid on flat rocks and mediated in silence while gazing at the stars. It was absolutely beautiful! My nephew is also on the spectrum and figuring out his way in life. Jason also may have another calling as a pscho-therapist or life coach! Jason also had terrific recommendations for our next day hike on our own and restaurants. I followed all of them! This was our first night in Sedona, and it couldn't have been more perfect!

My wife and I spent 4 days in Sedona 3 weeks ago and one of the important things to do was arrange a hike. But not a hike where we go with the herds and trounce into the woods like a band of chickens, but an organized private guided hike with a knowledgeable guide. My wife had known I wanted us to do a cool hike so she spent a few weeks researching it prior to our visit to Sedona.
My wife picked Trail Lovers Excursions and they did not disappoint. Let me tell you about our wonderful experience with them.
1st of all, they picked us up at our hotel and as we got into their van Jason (the owner) proceeded to explain to us the sequence of events for our day. He discussed the various materials they were providing for the hike and how the day would go. Then he dropped us off at a particular place and our guide (John) started us on our journey.
John was amazing. Just what he had done in his life was an honor to be around. His commitment to the world of hiking and all related things was great to just be around. I am personally very much into a lot of different things regarding the earth and in particular the amazing Sedona area. I asked a lot of questions on the walk and he was happy to go wherever I was going and was highly versed in many different types of topics. The animals that live there, the plants and trees, the wild life, the rocks, the dirt, the origins of all those and a whole lot more.
At the end of the hike we landed in a place where the vehicle was waiting and were able to simply get right in and be driven back to our hotel (the Adobe Villas I might add.) In the end I was not ready for it to end, it ended way too soon and in fact I did try and set a time that we could do another 2 days later on our last day in Sedona but it was not to be due to schedule reasons.
Do yourself a big favor and use this outfit when you want to take your family or a group out.
