A good pleasant hike that has varied landscape and views. Not too difficult, but still strenuous enough. You have the option of going to Chicken Point, or head to the Chapel. Give yourself a good 2 hours to enjoy this trail.

I would consider The Little Horse Trail an urban trail. Too many houses and buildings are visible. It is stunning when it meets up with the Broken Arrow Trail.

We found this trail but had not much info about it. The 3.5 miles felt like a lot more but you have great views of all the rock formations in the area. Once you arrive to Chicken Point the views of red rock country are...More

We took this trail and it didn’t disappoint. It’s closer to 4 miles round trip (parking lot and back) but it’s relatively mild and the views are unreal pretty much the entire time.

What a beautiful and enjoyable trail! We decided to hike this one after coming down from Cathedral and what a beautiful surprise that was. Highly recommend !

We didn't make it to the end as it was close to getting dark so we had to turn around after walking for about 70 minutes in one direction. We still had to go another 0.5 miles probably to get to Chicken's Point. We had...More

Easy access, pretty easy trail with a steady climb to the wonderful views on Chicken Point. Luckily we met two locals that encouraged us to "keep going," taking in the breath-taking trails of Hog Heaven and High on the Hog!!

A great connector to the north end of Chapel Trail - which was our favorite. Chapel trail ends is 0.75 miles long and ends at Chapel of the Holy Cross. Little Horse is relatively flat and quite wooded (so weak on views) for the first...More

Took me 45 minutes to get to chicken point. But I could've done it faster or slower. The guide book says to allow for two hours round-trip.

There are signs along the highway that let you know where it is located. I believe the signs say "Little Horse Trailhead," if memory serves me correctly... but if you are staying within Sedona and drive out of town on 179... More

So many hikes to choose from! (4 Replies)
My husband and two boys (6 & 10) are headed to Sedona for 2 days. Staying near Bell Rock and will drive the Red Rock Loop to get a feel for the area first. We would llike to take an easy to moderate hike with the best views. I have done some homework and while all seem amazing, I am wondering which one would be the best for ease AND amazing views. Considering Little Horse Trail to Chicken Point, Crescent Moon Ranch, Oak Creek Canyon, Boynton Vista, or Bell Rock) Hope to have time for 2 but...More

My favorite easy hike with the best views is at the knoll half way up airport mesa. Fay Canyon is also a nice easy hike. Bell Rock/Courthouse Loop is longer but very flat and beautifull. Little Horse is excellent but perhaps a little more moderate. Crescent Moon is a nice park to walk around with good views.

3 day itenerary with kids (1y+6y) (14 Replies)
Hi! some time ago I did research for our itenerary, and have written down something - with intention to come back later and nail it down. But our plane is leaving in few days and I had no time to come back for more info.. hope you can help me to select something :) we're family of 4, two kids (1y+6y). Would like to spend our Sedona days outdoor, with some hiking & resting in the nature (picnic..). Hiking trails should be short and not difficult, with great views ofc :)) (e.g. 1hr...More

You seem to have thrown out a number of places and attractions without paying much attention to a logical order for any of it. Have you looked a a map? First, don't worry about views. They're everywhere. Since you're arriving in the afternoon and staying in VOC, I'd focus on the 179/Red Rock Scenic Byway corridor that day. Plan to visit and wander on Bell Rock, Little Horse trail, Courthouse Loop, Chapel of the Holy Cross and that region. You'll see great views of Cathedral Rock, but you'd...More

Red rock crossing (4 Replies)
How do we get there? We are staying at Adobe Village Graham Inn in Village of Oak Creek? Also can we walk to Bell Rock or the Little Horse trail from our hotel? Thirdly can we walk to Chapel of Holy Cross or do we drive and is it easy to park? Thanks

Well since you are staying in VOC Verde Valley School Rd will take you there. The road is paved part of the way and then it is a dirt road, good condition. You have to park your car and walk the rest of the way, maybe a half mile. The last time we took this road, once you reached the creek you had to climb down a hill to the creek. I though I remember hearing they improved this a bit but RedRox can verify that. While a longer way from where you are staying, we prefer to take 89A in West...More
