bike rental made easy. Thunder mountain is centrally located to many trails along route 89a. The trek Fuel 7 I rented was in great condition and fun to ride. They provided SPD pedals and a helmet and tire kit in the price. The trails around Sedona were challenging but the views were awesome. Deciding between renting and bringing my own bike was difficult. 2 days of riding was $130 for the rental and the airline charged $150. So if I were to stay longer it's still a toss up between renting for another day or more and having my own bike with me. The freedom of not having to transport a bike is nice. All in all a very easy rental experience. The only thing I wish they had was a pickup earlier in the day. At the end of August it was 98 degrees and riding after 11 am was rediculously hot. I rented two days and the second day I was out at 6 a.m. sunrise. Much nicer experience.

My wife and I rented Santa Cruz Hightower and 5010 respectively. These were extremely capable bikes at a fair price that made the riding experience second to none. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Bikes were set up for us and pretty much dialed in. The shop recommended trails that suited us and we’re spot on. Trail conditions were epic.

The reservation system is very good and working well.
Payment requires that you have the bike from 9am to 6pm, the problem is that everyone arrives at 9am, and it is only one person who does the paperwork for rentals, so if you are the 6th or 7th you will only receive the mtb around 10am.
You receive the mtb with a basic rough adjustment of saddle and suspension, if you are lucky it will work, in my case the saddle was very low and the suspension with a lot of air, luckily I always have tools and pump with me
The mtb's are very beautiful but also very used, mine had a crooked front wheel, improperly adjusted gearing and very noisy brakes.
It was still a nice day and after some adjustments the mtb was working well, it was still a positive experience

Thunder Mountain was great. Top of the line bikes, free took kit/tube pack to use, and a free tailgate pad as well. Staff were friendly and very helpful. I highly recommend Thunder Mountain Bikes for anyone who needs a rental in Sedona.

We had a very good overall experience with Thunder Mountain bikes. The bikes themselves where in excellent shape and the shop is very organized -- from the time we reserved the bikes online right through the moment they helped load them into the car and then with the easy return. We also enjoyed riding the trails in Sedona, which they turned on us on to.
One small caveat is that while I spent hundreds of dollars to rent premium-level bikes for several days, I was surprised when they wouldn't provide us a trail map. I was told I had to purchase their special map, which is on a cloth and costs like $10. At first they wouldn't even let me take a picture of it, though finally relented after my insistence. Was a little awkward. Other than that, their people were really helpful, they know the region inside and out, and the shop has everything you could possibly need. I would definitely return, but

Absolutely awesome experience from start to finish. Shout out to Dakota for across the board awesome customer service all day!!
I came in looking to rent/demo/buy a bike, and TM went out of their way to let me jump on multiple bikes, set them up for my size/weight, ride them, and get to a killer deal on a used bike that they shipped for free to me!
They had no hesitation on making adjustments or my request to bleed to brakes or install my pedals etc.
Also, the premium bike I rented from them for the day was in excellent shape and was well cared for. They really do have a next-level rental fleet and I would come back in a heartbeat to do business with them or ride other high-end mountain bikes. I don't even feel a need to consider another bike shop in Sedona after my experience with Thunder Mountain! Keep it up!

Fantastic experience with these guys. Online reservations were easy, pickup was fast and on-time, and they provided everything we needed from a truck gate pad, cable lock, helmets, and flat kit to make sure the ride was supported with all the peripheral equipment you need for mountain biking. Would absolutely use Thunder again next time I am in Sedona.

Love this shop. First time I went there in 19' it was called Over The Edge and under the new name, Thunder Mountain, I got the same top-tier bikes and recommendations. I told them what I ride at home and they set me up on an Ibis RipMo which was an absolute riot! Then they sent us out the door with a route recco that had smiles across all faces! They even credited us for a day that was a washout due to 6" of snow.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Offered good options on some ride options to meet our skill level. Bikes were in good riding condition, wife’s bike had some fouled brakes but not enough to hinder our 2 days of riding. My bike was pretty much set up and ready to roll right from the point of pick up. Nice to be able to try out a couple of higher end fs carbon bikes and really trial them out. Do wish the price was more reasonable but can’t complain since it’s right in the range of everywhere else in the states. Would defiantly rent again from them if I found myself down in Sedona area again and in need of a rental.

The whole crew of Thunder Mountain Bikes did everything to make our Sedona riding experience great! Bikes were in great shape. After 3 days of riding we needed a wash and some adjustments to derailleurs, SPDs and brakes, and this was done in no time. Returning process was also a breeze.

Are you able to access the trails right from the bike shop? We will be traveling without a bike rack, a rental car and our two teenage boys. Thanks!
There are intermediate and advanced trails about 3/4 mile from the bike shop. You can access them by riding bike lanes or the sidewalk.

We rode the bikes from the shop to a variety of trails in the area. I believe they do rent racks as well. I'd call ahead to find out and/or reserve a rack if need be.
They are extremely helpful and will assist in whatever way needed. It is a full operation shop. They're great.
