I did the Red Rock Basecamp Sedona, 4 days of hiking, 3 nights camping. The guide, Drew, was fantastic, he communicated via phone and email ahead of time, picked me up on time and took great care of us throughout the experience. The meals were outstanding! Every detail was taken care of to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
Wildland Trekking seems to be a first class operation and I would recommend them without hesitation.

Without a doubt, our favorite parts of our 4 day trip with Wildland was the actual hiking itinerary, and our guide, Kasey. For our family of 4, the hiking was challenging, but doable - we are a modestly fit family (ages 58, 49, 14, 10) and we felt like the beautiful hiking routes which were expertly led by Kasey pushed us a little past our abilities, but not so much that it wasn’t enjoyable. The 14 year old even said, “This is fun!” on not 1, but THREE occasions! :) Kasey’s experience really shined, as she not only led the hikes, but cooked fantastic meals that accommodated our vegetarian/pescatarian meal request, and shared a lot of history about the Sedona area, as well as educated us about the local flora, fauna, and rocks/minerals(!). Yes, my boys love rock hunting, and we even got to do a little bit of that. We will most certainly be back for another Wildlands trip in the future!

Our tour group was eclectic. Two men not prepared dropped out after the first hike and this left four women. We all got along well. James was our guide and he picked up on our abilities quickly. Although we all have hiking experience he taught us new skills which prepared us for the next three hikes. Sedona is a beautiful area and hiking through gave you an amazing view of all the know sights better than driving to scenic viewpoints. Camping at Lo Lo Mei was ok and it is all sand which I am not used to. We were given a tent, a sleeping bag, and a pillow and I was comfortable. Our guide James was confident, knowledgeable of the Sedona trails, and passionate about the preservation of the land. He was up every day at six and ended his day around eight. In between these times, he cooked breakfast, hiked, prepared lunch, and upon return dinner. He did all the cleanup. He does have a low tolerance for crowds and prefers very small groups. Sometimes he did not understand our jokes, and did not want to be interrupted in group conversations, and let you know it. This is a personality difference and did not affect his skills or his attention for us to have a good experience.

I have been to Sedona several times, but this was the first time backpacking. It was a fantastic experience. Our guide, Tolman, was extremely knowledgeable and did a great job leading our group. I am already signed up for my third trip with Wildland later this fall. I recommend Wildland for anyone who wants to experience the outdoors as a guided experience.

What a great experience! A friend and I joined four other women from across the country for a four day hiking experience in Sedona. The views were amazing; the hikes were challenging and rewarding. We went back each night to our campsite, where our guide cooked delicious meals for us, before we all crashed in our tents to prepare for the next day. I can't wait to join another hike in the future, and can't recommend this experience more highly.

My guide was enthusiastic, knowledgeable, patient, and full of stories. I always felt safe and pushed to my limit (in a good way!). It's rare to have a guide who knows the area in all of its facets - original cultures, geology, ecology, policy – and I loved that I not only had an amazing experience, but I really learned a lot. Wildland Trekking’s “adventure consultants” are also amazing – they're informed about the product and went out of their way to ensure that I signed up for an experience that was right for me. The entire company is five-star!

Our groups experience with Wildland Trekking was outstanding! Because of some scheduling challenges, our guide Matt was called in from California to guide us on our four day trek in Grand Canyon and Sedona. While at first we were concerned that Matt was not a regular guide in the area, he immediately alleviated any all of our worries. He came to town two days before our trip and pre-hiked all four trails. Despite not being “an Arizona local” he was very well prepared and our hiking experience was absolutely terrific. Also, I must mention how pleased we were with the accommodations at Briar Patch Inn as well as the food that Matt prepared and the restaurants that were chosen for us to dine at. Truly much better than expected and very much appreciated. Hats off to Wildland Trekking for going the extra mile. You too, Matt!

My wife and I took a day hike on this trail which was a combination of a few trails. Guides always make or break the trip and Mikaela Ray was awesome. Informative, funny and a cool person to spend a few hours with. This hike was enjoyable and perfect for us, not too easy but not so hard we thought we were going to die. Various types of terrain and great views. Thoroughly enjoyed this and would highly recommend it to anyone. Overall hike was 8.5 ish miles and took us about 4.5 hours give or take including various stops for pics and lunch.

Everything about the experience was positive! Flew into Phoenix from Stl and took a prearranged Groome shuttle to Sedona. We stayed a night at the Inn Above Oak Creek which was so warm and welcoming. We instantly felt at home. The next morning our Wildland Trecking guide Katy picked us up by shuttle and took us to a near by public library where we met the rest of our group, had breakfast, got our supplies packed up and headed out by shuttle to the trail head. We spent 3 days and 2 nights backpacking through the Red Rock Secret Wilderness- Coconino National Forest. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly! I felt safe and in good hands the entire trip. She was always available to answer questions and eager to share her knowledge. The scenery was gorgeous with tons of photo opportunities!! I would not hesitate to recommend or book with Wildland Trecking in the future.

From start to finish, the team at Wildland is great. We were in Sedona for spring break, and my kids are ages 14, 12, and 9. We were set up for the "Wet Beaver Creek" trail but the trail was closed due to heavy rain in the area. Our guide Dakota took us on a different trail. He was superb. He contacted us in advance, gave us an idea of what to bring and how to prepare. We luckily found some rain jackets for the kids in Sedona the day before. Dakota brought daypacks with him as well as trekking poles, which everyone used. The hike itself was amazing, as well as educational - mostly on outdoor survival tips, which the kids loved. He knew the flora/fauna of the land well, and helped us recognize different shrubs/trees and their medicinal uses, as well as which treebark could be used for kindling. He prepared lunch as well, and it wasn't just granola bars/snacks, but a full on salad wrap with chips and hot chocolate for the kids. We will book with Wildland again, and will request Dakota.
