About
A Sedona landmark since the 1970's, Tlaquepaque treats visitors and local residents to an exceptional collection of galleries, shops and dining establishments. Named after the picturesque Guadalajara, Tlaquepaque construction began in 1971 with the creation of the wall along the highway. Giant sycamores and stately cottonwoods dapple the light in the courtyards, encouraging the visitors to meander from one courtyard to the next. While meandering stop by and view our Chapel on property - and perhaps you might get a glimpse of a wedding and reception. Tlaquepaque hosts several community events throughout the year. Tlaquepaque is a place that visitors return to again and again - to look and wander, to sample and buy, to eat, drink and refresh body and soul. Visit us soon and discover the magic yourself!

- LightPacker77720044 contributionsgreat shopping venue, ca be tough getting there.Very cool shopping area with a touch of Europe. There are many shops with artisans and crafts, as well as a good variety of restaurants. Prices vary by location, overall it is a little expensive, but really good food. Now the bad.... to get here you must go through the nightmare traffic circles, which are everywhere in Sedona. On weekends you can sit for 30 min going just a few miles. They really need to rethink their traffic solutions.Visited October 2023Traveled as a coupleWritten October 10, 2023
- lotsagoldens946 contributionsAlways beautiful. At every time of year, Tlaqepaque is beautiful. In the fall there are displays with pumpkins, etc. At Christmas it's absolutely gorgeous with the lights and the displays -- not to be missed! There are some great shops and restaurants and it's just a fun place to poke around. Great atmosphere because of the architecture. There is often live music.Visited November 2023Traveled with familyWritten November 14, 2023
- TCORiverside, California186 contributionsFinally VisitedPlace is nice to walk and look around. Different art galleries. Very nice things. Everything is priced so expensive that you don’t see very many people shopping but more of walking and looking around and eating. The place is worth checking out if you like art. There’s a few cafes you can check out and some restaurants to eat at. Nice place.Visited December 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 3, 2023

- Shaked007Hod Hasharon, Israel1,869 contributionsPretty Shopping Village!! Lovely Shops!!Tlaquepaque is designed as a little Mexican village with quaint little shops of all kinds, small alleyways, pretty gardens and a quiet and peaceful atmosphere. The shops cater for different tastes. Some are reasonable and some more expensive but all are pretty and you can spend lots of time browsing. We spent a few hours walking around and, of course, left them with some of our money in return for some pretty items. Definitely a worthwhile place to visit while in Sedona. Don't miss it!!Visited August 2023Traveled with friendsWritten December 23, 2023
- stardust1229The Woodlands, Texas221 contributionsSedona's Upscale ShoppingThis is a very lovely arts & shopping area in Sedona. It has wonderful ambiance, soothing fountains, seating areas, restaurants & shops. To do it justice, it needs several hours or multiple visits. Most of the shops are high end & pricey. Whether spending or browsing, it's very nice. I did have one questionable experience in a shop ( addressed in a different review), thus taking off one star...Visited July 2023Traveled with friendsWritten January 31, 2024
- abbs49Louisville, Kentucky19 contributionsUnique and FunThis was such a unique shopping area! I loved walking around the different plazas and window shopping. All of the shops included merchandise that is handmade in Sedona. The only downfall is that the prices were very high and the parking was very crowded. If you are into art, I highly recommend a visit here!Visited March 2024Traveled with friendsWritten March 10, 2024
- BobiTychynskiShimodaOakville, Canada402 contributionsMust do for fun shopping experienceOur family of 5 enjoyed this stop. We spent about 90 minutes here. There was definitely more to see but we had seen enough for our taste. We enjoyed a variety of snacks —some of us gelato, a giant pair of cookies and a cupcake. Most of us left with a souvenir. The selection of art was impressive and as a wide variety of price points.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten March 20, 2024
- Riplee04Madison, Wisconsin67 contributionsA must-do while in SedonaThe best place, in my opinion to shop in Sedona. Reasonable prices, very friendly (most places) service and such a wide variety of items to shop for. Open spaces, (so doesn't feel as crowded as uptown) and many fountains and soothing sounds. For our first trip to Sedona and how crazy / crowded the uptown area gets, this was within walking distance from our Inn and was a beautiful place to browse and buy. I came home w/ a few treasures.Visited April 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten April 21, 2024
- Susan KFlorida2,390 contributionsLovely shopping villageLovely shopping village with fountains and flowers. There are shops with locally made items and several artist shops. It was a lovely way to kill a few hours while we waited for our hotel room. The shopping village is on two sides of the highway and there are individuals to stop traffic so you can cross.Visited May 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 9, 2024

Charming ambiance. Mixture of hallmark type stores and very expensive artisan stores The candel shop was pretty neat. We ate at the Mexican resturaunt for lunch...disappointed even the chips and salsa were yuck. There is a shop called "hummingbird" in spanish upstairs. The woman was so nice. She makes all her items in her shop. I was surprised there were not many local artists or Native American Indians selling their products in the stores. Kind of felt mislead being our first visit. Lots of shops to look at. We didnt have time to go through all. We will be returning to Sedona in the fall but would like to shop and support the local natives and artists instead. So we will be headed up the mountain first. If we have any money left to spend we will stop by again and give this place another chance. It is a great place to sit and enjoy the ambiance though!

There is no doubt about it: this is a very chichi place. You will not find cheap clothes, shoes, souvenirs, jewelry, knickknacks, décor, or restaurant meals in this place, but you will certainly enjoy looking at all of the above. There are sweet treats to suit the pickiest palate plus teas, coffees, breweries, wineries, and more. There are visual delights to treat your eyes no matter which way you turn, and all of the area is kept clean and nicely landscaped. The wedding chapel is no doubt lovely as well.

This is a pretty location with a lot of instagram-y areas but for the most part it seemed like a bunch of high priced art galleries without much to do but 'look' for the average person. It was difficult to get in to the restaurants without reservations (although it was apparently the busy season). If you like looking at artwork, definitely a must see.

We weren't sure what to expect. It's uniquely set up with different styles of shops. It is upscale and pricey, but at the same time many pieces are made by individual artists. I get that it's not necessarily "Arizona made", but there's a ton of repetitive non-Arizona made goods in Uptown. So we actually preferred it to Uptown. Also a bit less chaotic.

While on our first visit to Sedona we stopped into the Tlaquepaque Shopping Village. The first morning we were looking to eat breakfast at one of the restaurants there but it was crowded and had a long wait.
We did stop back again one afternoon and found it hard to park...Seems like a real popular place for sure. While it has a beautiful look to its design and buildings you better time your visits as parking and restaurant wait times could be a real deterrent for a nice visit.
Hopefully on our next visit we may get to spend more time walking through the many shops and have time for a glass of wine and some olives....

This is a beautiful place to stop even if you do not want to shop. The buildings and setting takes you to another place and you feel transported to a small village. There was a gentleman singing and playing music, it was very entertaining. There are several places to eat and many shops ranging from various mediums of art and trinket items. Whatever type of art you enjoy they probably have it. But walk around and enjoy the view.
Also, the main parking areas are frequently crowded go to the back area there was plenty of parking and you just take a short walk over a bridge to get to the shopping area.

We enjoyed walking around and looking at art from very high-end to affordable prices. Street musicians were non-obtrusive, talented and personable. We enjoyed a cup of chai and chatting with individual shop keepers. A delightful afternoon experience.

After touring the Chapel of the Holy Cross, we went to Tlaquepaque in search of food and drink. While this shopping village has beautiful buildings and a neat feel to it, we were disappointed that it lacked places to hang out and have a drink or to grab a quick bite to eat. In fact, the main area of Tlaquepaque lacks almost any eateries - which is odd given its promotion as a destination spot.
The shops are nice, but very pricey, and the entire "village" lacks any real charm or friendliness.

Hmm...thanks for your response but we do have several eateries - perhaps you missed them ..which is odd. We have a Mexican Restaurant - El Rincon, Oak Creek Brewery and Grill, Rene Restaurant , The Secret Garden as well as the Pump House. All of those have BARS. Then for a quick grab and go, we have CREAM as well as Cake Couture.
We encourage you to come back...get a map and perhaps seek out all the gems we have to offer!
As far as charm - wow - not sure what you missed -seems like you were'nt even at Tlaquepaque!

Highlights:
The people are all welcoming and friendly.
Chris Navarro's sculptures are vivid with full of life.
The guitar player Solomon could not have complemented the place more.
Spirits and Spice is a wonder in itself.
Daniel the candle maker showing how globe candles are made.
Tips:
Bring water. Make time to enjoy the place.
If you're looking for that unique gift, this is one of the best places to find them. They carry a hefty tag but a some of the items are worth it.

Beautifully built village that's good fun to explore. We enjoyed talking with the staff in the stores, often either the artist or owner. We bought a few beautiful jewelry pieces that were made in Sedona as souvenirs.
We enjoyed some live music outside El Ricon with cold drinks and chips.
The only negative is you can get a little lost navigating the village but as long as you have time to kill, it's not a problem!
Nicely located in Sedona, worth a visit during your stay!

Any restaurants in the village allow dogs? We want to roam around and then do lunch?
Written October 13, 2020
Yes, we are entirely dog friendly at Tlaquepaque. Please just keep dogs on a leash while walking around or eating at the restaurants.
Rincon, Secret Garden, Rene and Pump House can accommodate pets outside on patios.

What day of the week do you recommend visiting this town?
Written August 30, 2017
Hi If you are trying to avoid any kind of crowds the mid-week days are best. Sedona is not generally busy this time of year - we get busy around the end of September and October.
Friday morning for Farmer's market is also a bit busy here - but always enjoyable.
Written August 30, 2017
There will be a day of the dead celebration on October 28th and I was wandering if anyone had any feedback into if it was worth going to or not
Written August 9, 2017
Absolutely! There is always a lot of entertainment and some amazing costumes.

I saw a shop over the weekend that has outdoor yard art, at the very east end of the shops. They were wind sculptures. Can you tell me the name xo that I can contact them? Thank you,
Written May 16, 2016
I kept a map of Tlaquapaqui and I think the gallery is. The Inner Eye. 928-282-5250. Call them and if it isn't that shop, maybe they can tell what shop you're talking about.
