Cascata do Arado is situated in Peneda-Geres NP. It is nice place: river, small bridge, few steps to the view point of the waterfall. I would say that the only disadvantage is the easy accessibility. There leads a wide sandy road from the main road to the very point next to the bridge and then only few steps are sufficient to get to the river. And even young people are really coming by car there, although there is a parking space at the main road approx. 10 min. away (nice walk by the way). I can imagine that there must be so many people in high season! We visited it during our hike from Ermida and it wasn´t demanding to get there. We took a break on the bank of the river and watching cars around we were little bit disappointed. The waterfall itself is very nice!

A beautiful waterfall, not too far from the main road. We left our car a bit far and had to walk a bit, but could easily park it next to the bridge. From there we had to walk a bit to the waterfall, at first some stone stairs, but not too difficult. The waterfall is amazing, just a pity there is no chance to get closer. Really worth to see!
We were there in October 2020.

After trying to visit Pitoes das Junias the day before ending in a failure(the path is mostly crosscountry woods and its not possible to go to the water) we tried Cascata do Arado.

Its very easy to reach. You can drive to the bridge and just walk the stairs up to the source (altough I recommend leaving the car up the hill and walk down).
After checking this beatufil place go down and take a bath on the fresh waters below the bridge!

It’s not very often that little Manav gets to really get out and enjoy nature, but these family friendly water falls had him in fits of giggles and laughter. He even got to take off his arm bands off and have a paddle in the shallow water after he felt up to it
I should apologise for the ruckus that he made when we told him that we were leaving, but that just goes to show that these waterfalls are just an absolute magnet for young excitable kids like Manav. I should also apologise to the elderly couple who caught a glimpse of a little too much of Manav (if you know what I mean). I assure you this will not happen again.
Thank you Portugal for providing such a beautiful, wholesome place xxx

Check first if there is water, if is dried up there is not a big point in comming just for this. Cascada do Tahiti is very close and should always have water.

We went to the waterfall while hiking on the PR 14 trail which starts at Ermida about 6km from Villa do Geres. The waterfall is very pretty with some good swimming spots and cars can not access it (the closest car park is about 1km away). If you hike above it on a more narrow trail there are some more swimming pools with far fewer people.

If you have the time I would highly recommend hiking the whole of PR14 from Ermida. It has some beautiful views over the neighbouring valleys and takes you through a range of different sections of forest and scrub with some interesting historical and natural sights. There are loads of rest places for a picnic. In total it is about 14km with the final km going through a very pretty stone village with lots of espigueros. There were no rubbish bins on the trail which is great as it forces people to take out their trash with them although sadly not everybody abides by this rule. If you have to go to the toilet down a side trail please take your toilet paper and wet wipes with you.

The view was breathtaking and the short hike up was more than enjoyable. This is an example of nature's beauty.

This is a fair way up into the National Park, the last 1 km is on an unsurfaced road. The location is isolated and spectacular. The waterfalls are not that high - perhaps 20 metres - but there are good hiking and rock climbing opportunities here.
