This is the second time we have hiked this trail. It is a fun hike and others on the trail are very friendly. Some sections have a lot of loose rocks and you need to be careful not to twist an ankle. The trailhead is easy to find with a lot of parking. I recommend you go early and bring water since there is no shade on this trail and it can get hot. Dogs are allowed but they recommend you leave them at home on hot days.

Group of women hiked to Taliesin overlook in November on a Thursday about 8:00 a.m. It was not that busy on the way up to Taliesin but the trail was definitely busier on the way down. Two bottles of water were plenty. This did not get our heart rates up much but great view of the home (look at a picture online before you go so you know what you are looking for). The next day we hiked the trail again getting on the trail right at sunrise but returned on Old Jeep Trail and Lost Dog Overlook. Much more incline/decline that got the heart rate up more and took about 90 minutes. Again, two bottles were plenty. Great trails that get busier as the day goes on so arrive early. Plenty of parking was available.

We started at sunrise when it was cooler and the light was very pretty. By Colorado standards, the route we took up to the Taliesin overlook (still not sure we actually saw Taliesin...) was an easy hike (rated as "moderate" by local trail guides). Not much elevation gain (~300 ft) and manageable gravel/rock. A sturdy shoe closed-toe shoe with some traction is necessary, but probably doesn't need to be a hiking boot.

We have two boys (9 & 12) and wanted to do some hiking and read this was a good out and back which it was but I will say we did the Blue Wash Trail (not shown in TripAdvisor but can be found on Alltrails) and it was way better for the boys. Both days hit 100+degrees so pack twice as much water as you think you need.

TIP: Bring MORE WATER than you think you need! We had 2 full Nalgene and 4 normal water bottles and the boys went through it all.

Hike wasn't challenging at all and views were great. Trail had decent traffic both ways but plenty of room to navigate around people and bikers. Lots of parking and really well marked trails all around there area.

Great hikes & bike rides. Equestrians are also welcome. Large area - parking lot has plenty of spaces. Lots of trails to choose from so there's something for everyone. Bathrooms & water refill station at the trailhead. Stewards are volunteers who help the city as well as visitors so be sure to thank them for their generosity!

The hike is variable, especially for the inexperienced. One can hike hard or easy. I paricularly enjoyed the natural desert environment.

Well spaced and informative signed . Excellent educational experience. Trail was easy, but there are more strenuous hikes available. Very popular with locals.

Been here quite a few times, nice easy parking and restrooms and pleasant if not challenging trails from trailhead. And not crazy busy. But its very cool that trails network together and you can connect to Fountain Hills, we haven't done that yet, maybe now it's cooler
