Beautiful walking/biking area where you can catch a sunrise/set. Not too crowded, unless there's a special event going on.

I thought we would enjoy the Canal but it was plain and boring. There are so many other fun things to do in the area.

Staying at the Hilton Garden Inn and Resort in Scottsdale put us within walking distance of the canal which we were at first excited to hear. Unfortunately, this particular portion of the canal was not especially exciting. The walking path was even and clean but there wasn't much to see. From what I've read other portions of the walk are much better. We'll have to check those out next time.

I went to Canal Convergence, part of a 10 night public art show in and over and around the Canal. I enjoyed the area. I wish there were more restaurants right on the canal, one place I went to was just fair, the other quite good (reviewed separately), but they could have more choices nearby to make it more visitor friendly. There are some restaurants nearby. Not sure I would seek this canal out if there was no Art show, but some locals would like it I am sure. A nice place to run and walk and take the dog out, lots of apartments/condos right there as well as some retail nearby also. Interesting but not worth seeking out unless there is something going on.

This area is flat and provides an easy walk. Some interesting sculptures along the way. Parking nearby is easy. Restaurants are nearby for meal or a snack.
