Scottsdale has done a great job of creating a waterfront in the middle of the desert. OK, it’s a concrete canal that brings/ stores water for the area, but parts of it are really ingeniously done, and look very pretty. It really adds to the...More

Came across this lovely park and canal right after sunrise. Cast a beautiful glow across the canal and surrounding buildings and made for a nice morning walk!

Ok it's a canal, not exactly Birmingham, England or Venice, Italy but surprising to have a canal in the desert. Close to The Fashion Square Mall and 5th Ave and N Scotsdale Rd so plenty going on around here. Loved the public art The Doors...More

Nice to see it there, but not particularly pretty. Suggest you see it while walking adjacent to a golf course.

What is free, gives you great exercise and offers a lot of local history? A bike ride on the Arizona Canal. I ride a round trip from Central Avenue (above Northern) in Phoenix to the Scottsdale Waterfront almost every weekend. It is usually a highlight...More

Several decades ago (late 70s / early 80s) this canal was much better than it is today. The primary reason for this is because the canal's walkways were covered with crushed red limestone or thin gravel. Today that has largely been replaced by asphalt and...More
