Scottsdale continues to tweak and upgrade Scottsdale Stadium to keep the San Francisco Giants happy enough to keep it as their Spring Training Facility. The stadium is an "old style" stadium with plenty of modern amenities. It's an intimate setting, and will remind you of seeing a minor league team play. But these are major league players, and you can see them up close and personal.

We came for Spring Training, the stadium is across the street from Talking Stick resort but you need to get a Taxi or Uber to get over the freeway. Quick to get in, plenty of places to eat. We were able to find our seats quickly and had a good view of the game. Plenty of food and drinks for sale all over the place.

Watched Pac-12 tournament here in May & thankfully they didn't check tickets or we'd have cooked! There's little shade except for up top behind home plate; watching from the grass seemed nice, but we didn't do that. In the afternoon, the 3rd base side gets shade first. They had misters up that helped w/the heat. Concessions weren't great - you had your typical things at a baseball stadium but no healthy or unusual options.

We have been here a couple of times and the parking is impossible, unless you want to walk a good distance. The parking before game time is not well marked. This time we tried to go for Arizona Fall League baseball. This is our least favorite stadium of the many in the area.

Nice stadium and great people. Finally found parking lot for our rv 5 blocks away for only $10. Sat on lawn and had good
view. Expect to pay stadium prices for beer, sodas and food.

First time here for a spring training game, what a great venue! The stadium was clean and well staffed in the stands, around the stadium and at the concessions. No on-site parking, but relatively close. Close to Old Town Scottsdale.

I am going to echo the review titled “Absolute Rip Off” of March 26, 2014.
We have been to Scottsdale Stadium several times but we will no longer go. There are newer, better, more comfortable, not to mention cheaper, places to see a spring training game all over the valley.
To the best of my knowledge virtually everything from ticket prices to popcorn & beer is more expensive here. Bleacher seating is not the best and comfort is minimal. There are no shaded areas in the stands a lone exception is in front of the press box area in the upper section.
Scottsdale Stadium is the home of high ticket prices, and there is very little parking at the ball park. The scoreboard is outdated along with the rest of the stadium.
We are Giant fans now living in the Valley but we will never spend another dime here. The sole reason we attended a recent game was that friends from the Bay Area were visiting and expressed their desire to go see the Giants at their ball park.
There was a story circulating a couple of years ago, probably after their first World Series win, that someone inquiring about the high price of tickets was told there are other stadiums with cheaper tickets, “we suggest you go there.”
My suggestion: Go see the Giants play at the new Cubs park or Salt River Fields or Camelback Stadium, anywhere but here.

What a wonderful place to watch baseball. Great hometown feel. Good food and I don’t think there is a bad seat in the stadium.

This is a great stadium with a great atmosphere! I've seen the Giants play here twice now.Caught an afternoon game today on the lawn for $35.
The only drawbacks are the little to no shade of you have lawn tickets, the good beer can be a little pricey ($11 for Kiltlifter), and parking can be a hassle. I recommend coming early, heading over to old town for lunch, and then back to the stadium for the game. These are expected though. I will be going back for another game soon, go Giants!

I have been to every stadium in both the Cactus and Grapefruit Leagues. I would rate this as by far the worst. The ticket prices are outrageous, the bleacher seats are uncomfortable with zero leg room and the concessions are the highest priced anywhere. Even the programs are outrageous at $10.00
I am aware the San Francisco Giants have progressive pricing whereas the prices can go down (albeit there is a floor) if ticket demand is low (this never happens) or they can go up dramatically (and surprise, there seems to be no ceiling) if the demand is high. I went on-line seconds after the site opened for individual tickets and all I could get for the Giants vs A's game on March 21 was a bleacher seat at $41.00 plus $11.00 fees. This price is outrageous for a Spring Training game. I could understand a higher price if I had waited to purchase, but don't understand how it could have been this expensive given I purchased as soon as I was allowed to do so.
I wrote the San Francisco Giants about the outrageous prices and have yet to hear back from them. Obviously, they do not care what fans think and I can only conclude they are a truly classless organization.
I will never attend another Spring Training game at the Scottsdale Stadium.

How early should we get there to reserve decent space for 9 people on the lawn?

It depends upon the popularity of the game, but generally one hour before game time should be ok. You cannot “reserve” seats or space on the lawn, nor can you bring in lawn chairs. For more information, you can call the stadium offices.

Is there a R V park close by

Not that I know of. There is some street parking, but the garage is two story and I don't think an RV could get in because of it's height. There is open parking in the Old Town and would be a short walk, but I am not sure that they allow long RV's.

is there a bus?
NewArizonan
Scottsdale, AZ36 contributions
Yes! There is a Free bus. It is called the Scottsdale Trolley. The Trolley is a fleet of full size buses wrapped to appear like an old fashioned trolley. They run every 10 to 11 minutes. there are 6 routes that extend from Tempe in the south to Talking Stick Resort in the north. If your resort or hotel is on or near a trolley route, you have free, air conditioned, clean transportation to the ballpark. Since the Trolleys were designed for Scottsdale residents, every trolley route stops at the hospital which is across the street from the stadium. This trolley stop is 100 yards from the front door of the Stadium. This is practically valet service. The Trolleys are wheel chair accessible. Contact the Scottsdale chamber of commerce for a Trolley route map before you arrive or ask your hotel how close you are to a trolley stop.
If you are staying at a hotel on Scottsdale Road or Drinkwater, your second option is a pedicab. There are two types, the traditional bicycle powered rickshaw and the electric golf cart. There are no standard rates because pedicabs are not licensed. You tip the driver. However, it might be a good idea to ask the 'rate' to the ballpark and then negotiate.
The Scottsdale Trolley is one of the least known services in Scottsdale. It is fun and easy. Please give it a try. All the routes run about thirty minutes round trip. Depending on where you are staying, you could have a 10 minute free ride.

We went to an early afternoon game...I thought we paid $10 for adjacent lot parking, but my review says parking was free...we parked in a public lot next to the stadium.

If you buy lawn tickets, can you bring in a cooler? Is it OK to bring in low back (no legs seats) or just blankets allowed?

Biggest issue you will have is finding a place to park. Place is not my favorite. Spring Training draws big crowds.
