Chose Scottsdale due to its close proximity to the airport but also as there seemed a lot to do.
Day time - Very safe to walk around and each time I came across some interesting pieces of art. I also found a visitors unmanned stand full of leaflets and maps and one was a self guided tour around the tour which I followed. I went to a few places for breakfast and each had an hours wait so ended up waiting at my 3rd stop Breakfast Club on N Scottsdale Rd.
Night time - Holy mother this is like party central, all the younger crowd (where were they during the day?) came out to play and play and party hard they did. Everywhere was loud, packed and teaming with people. One concern I had was I was having dinner and was sat outside people watching and a young couple rented e scooters off a stand. From where I sat the girl was wasted but off she went with one hand on a handle and the other holding her drink. She went 20 feet through the first intersection with cars whizzing by, the scooter wobbled and I am not sure if she hit the brakes or she hit a pot hole but that scooter came to a dead stop, she flew through the air still holding her drink and landed on her chin first. How a car never hit her is beyond me. Need to rethink rental of bikes/scooters on an evening when alcohol is in play. The area felt safe walking around at night though due to the volume of tourists and locals out and about.

One of the main attractions if not the main attraction depending upon your reason for visiting the area in the first place. Restaurants, retail of every caliber, boutiques, galleries and bars doesn’t began to cover the wide range of businesses in this historic retailed center of Scottsdale town center The western themed area is a walkable attraction where you can decide your direction and time limit and hardly ever run of something new around the next corner.

What I would call a shopping/entertainment district of upscale Scottsdale area has such a diverse array of stores that carried everything from high priced art to cheap, less than a dollar souvenirs, in other words something for everyone sort of interspersed with each other. Thousand-dollar sculptures in one store and Santa Clause snow globes across the street. Upscale boutiques on one corner, t-shirt stalls on the other. As Scottsdale’s only bonified family friendly attraction that can entertain you for the better part of a whole afternoon and beyond if you dine there, Old Town Scottsdale caters to the visitor as well as the locals. Ample free parking is available depending upon the time of day and the time of year you visit, otherwise a little searching and or walking may be necessary. The southwestern theme is prevalent but not dominant in every store or restaurant, but if you’re looking for a new pair of boots or a new cowboy hat, you’ll find it here. Many of the stores carry unique one of a kind hand made items while some carry internationally recognized brands.

Take the time to visit at least once while in town for whatever reason your there.

Old Scottsdale hasn't changed since we've been here and that's ten years. The shops are cute, lots of jewelry stores, great bars, restaurants, and a lively night scene. The shop in Old Town close early so check if you want to shop.

There are now golf cart drivers offering tours of the area for a reasonable price. On Thursdays it's Scottsdale Art Walk which starts at 7pm and ends at 9pm. The galleries all open and the area is so easy to just stroll, window shop, and enjoy the beautiful weather. There's usually musicians who set up so it's lovely to hear those sounds.

I LOVE Old Scottsdale, unfortunately my budget does not. There are so many wonderful shops and galleries to visit that it's hard to decide where to start (and what you just cannot go home without!). A member of our party had never been to the area, and we spent two wonderful days browsing the myriad silver jewelry stores and art galleries. Old Scottsdale also has an old western town charm that is becoming rarer to find with the encroachment of high-rise buildings and urban condos in so many of the historic southwest towns. You can find everything from silly souvenirs to breathtaking bronze sculptures. We have friends visiting from the UK and France this year, and all are quite excited that this quaint area of Scottsdale is on the itinerary.

This was a fun place for us to visit that was chock full of quaint stores with unique decorative gift items, outdoor art and sculptures, water features, a large 1989 Bob Parks Bronze Fountain with Horses, and tons of restaurants around the Arizona Canal that runs right through the Old Town. The Old South - West theme prevalent everywhere was charming.

Parking was ample and free in several areas, and was at a walking distance from the Main Street. We felt safe strolling around the brightly lit streets, taking in the all the sights and the sounds -- even though most of the stores were closed when we visited on a Sunday evening.

A “Must Visit” if you are in Scottsdale.

We were here a few years ago, and not much as changed. Main street is lined with high-end art/sculpture shops while Scottsdale Avenue has restaurants and kitsch shops. We ate at Cien Agaves and it was very good. Margaritas were excellent.

Note..lots of free, underground parking at Scottsdale Museum of the west.

I went with some friends to Old Town Scottsdale where I've been a million times. It's still fun, very tourist, but for me educational. I love the Native Western Culture and always learn something new. There are some old bars which are fun, and some new restaurants which are good. I was lucky enough to stop into a shop where I spoke with a Native American Owner which was so educational. I loved this ring I saw and he told me about the artist, I made a note of the artist so I could look them up when I got home.Quite to my amazement, when I got home I went to my jewelry store in La Quinta and she had the same artist that I wanted to buy a ring in Old Town but it was so overspriced. I ended up buying the ring I wanted in my home town jewelry store for about 1/2 the price. So, for me it was educational. For my family, they loved all of the southwest art, jewelry, people watching, etc. I will continue to go back just because its so fun and fun to see how overpriced they are! LOL

Very cool little town with parking that is tough to find but free. Restaurants and outdoor seating look awesome. Did have the worst cup of coffee at a local shop. It’s a bit expensive as you will notice the clientele who frequent the area. However, it is 70-degrees out versus -10 back home so anywhere is awesome! Wish we had more time as we were on a time constraint. Be sure to go over bridges to more shops as we did not see until we left. Would go back!

My niece and I visited Old Town Scottsdale for a few hours on our last day in AZ. We were just killing time before heading to the airport when we discovered that there was a Native American festival/art fair! We visited several booths and I was absolutely stunned when we happened upon a booth with the artist Ron Chee present. I have admired his work for years and couldn't believe my good fortune to meet him in person. He was so nice, very outgoing ad friendly. I purchased one of his works and so did my niece.

The best craft cocktails in the area. Hands down. Happy hour is amazing 4-8pm daily with so many amazing cocktails on special and the food is also impeccable. On top of that the service is top notch.
Cannot wait to come back!
