I like the Scottsdale Civic Center. It is beautiful with water. The City Hall had made a beautiful place to enjoy for everyone,
There were many fountains.
There were also beautiful flowers mixes with other flowers.
This is a must!
Wow!

This area is worth a walk. Buildings are nicely layed out and there are wonderful sculptures - many western ones, but also Indiana's famous LOVE sculpture. The general landscape, garden, is lovely.

Welcome to Scottsdale, where we call our park the Civic Center Mall, and we call our mall Fashion Square. To make it worse, in nearby Bilmore, we call the mall a park (Biltmore Fashion Park).
Good luck, tourists.
Nevertheless, I love this park. Full of green spaces, fountains, flower gardens, public art, it's ringed by art museums and some pretty classy restaurants and bars and even the main branch of our public library, Oh, and the jail is there too. I recommend staying away from there.
Best things to do:
5) Relax in the sunken flower garden with a fountain in the middle.
4) Climb into Love (the sculpture) with someone and have a friend take your photo
3) Visit a touristy shop right at the entrance. There are dozens. Some are even worthwhile.
2) Grab a spot at the bar and order a martini at AZ88. It's a truly fun place. And note I said one martini. If you drink two, you'll forget everything else that happens. Also, they serve truly great gourmet burgers, and enjoy whatever is on display from their art collection. (It's a semi-gay bar with some extremely tightly laced, conservative bartenders. The martini helps you not try to figure that out.)
1) Visit a gallery (SMOCA is my favorite, especially the outside gallery) or take in a show at the Performing Arts building. Great stuff, if a little pricey!
If you're lucky enough to be there on a weekend afternoon, there's a good chance you'll catch a festival celebrating art, baseball, food or cultural diversity.
The best part: It's all within walking and biking distance of home for us!

This is a great Place to visit and walk right near Old Town Scottsdale. Quiet, safe and beautifully manicured walking paths that take you through parts of the town. Nice gardens and fountains are plentiful. It was a very pleasant surprise for us.

I feel fortunate to live just four blocks from the Scottsdale Civic Center. During the cooler months of the year it is one of my favorite places in which to walk and soak up its beauty. Few cities the size of Scottsdale have a civic center that gives one the feeling of being in Europe. With its artificial lake and spraying fountains combined with numerous bronze sculptures, the main plaza feels more like what one would expect in the Mediterranean. Depending upon the season, the flower beds are always neatly manicured and the blooms reflect the time of year, with winter and spring showing off a myriad of colors. The main plaza is about the size of two average square city blocks and it is surrounded by the city hall, public library, performing arts theater and numerous restaurants. This is a venue that is a showcase of the way in which the city of Scottsdale spends its money on urban beautification, something we residents are all very proud of.

This is really a review of the picnic. Before we left Ireland, I had signed up for newsletters on AZ and I'm so glad I did because I learned about this festival and we had a lovely day out yesterday. The food stalls offered wonderful freshly cooked, flavoursome foods and the music was fantastic. We were there for the Keltic Cowboys and Young Country - just super. We sat in the shade and enjoyed the whole ambience of this family day out. Kids had a ball playing together (no computers involved!). Parents looked relaxed while their kids found new friends to play with. Teenagers and young singles looked lovely in their sun dresses and trendy gear. This was a super day out for all age groups. The entrance fee of 10 dollars was fine but 3 dollars for a bottle of water was exorbitant. The organisers had kept the water stands to themselves so the price was set at this high price for water, which was a necessary commodity in 90 degree heat. However, nothing could take away from the lovely day we enjoyed at this organised event. You need to be there at opening time (noon) to be sure of a nearby parking spot.

I live in Phoenix and it is my favorite place to visit in Scottsdale on a regular basis. The library, Scottsdale City Hall, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Sct. Historical Museum, galleries and restaurants, all surrounded by beautiful grass, flowers, trees, fountains, sculptures and more. It's a great place to relax, have a picnic or attend one of the many events held year round: American Indian Dances, food festivals, top quality art & craft shows, outdoor music and entertainment. Strolling the grounds is free, unless there is an event going on. How much money you'll spend and how long you're there all depends on what you choose to see and do. A must see, in my opinion.

The Civic Center Mall area used to be filled with fountains. Not so much anymore. After many years, the fountains needed almost constant repairs, so most were ripped out and replaced with landscaping. Still a nice place to take a walk or take part in many of the weekend activities hosted here.

This lovely park will entrance you with its proximity to Old Town shops, providing you with a beautiful place to recharge your senses with a stroll or a park bench. The flowers and fountains are a joy to experience. You can access the beautiful Performing Arts Center (check it out for performances), public library, and restaurants.
