Puzzle Ride Prescott

Just like an escape room, the puzzles and clues are challenging to figure out - you'll need team work to make it happen! Unlike an escape room, you're outdoors, enjoying the time with family and friends and visiting places you might have otherwise passed by!

Very Nice But Lots of Construction in October I had never visited the Yavapai County Courthouse in Prescott, though I had been to that town some years before. In October, we were in town for my wife’s business meetings, so I had several days to explore, and after breakfast downtown, I headed immediately to the Yavapai County Courthouse. Initially, Prescott was the Territorial Capital of Arizona, in 1864, but that was moved to Phoenix. Still, Prescott is the County Seat of Yavapai County, and this lovely building, and surrounding plaza are basically the center of Prescott. Unfortunately, on this October visit, there was a lot of construction around the Courthouse, from remodeling the fountain in the plaza, to work on the bandstand, to areas closed off, for the installation of Holiday lights - not the ideal time to visit. Still, the building is lovely. It replaced the original Yavapai Courthouse in 1916, and exemplifies a Federalist Architecture. It would fit right in, were it in Washington, DC. The grounds, and the plaza are lovely, and tree-shrouded, and even with the construction barricades and tape, there was much to see, and to appreciate. I spent a good two hours, just at the Courthouse and adjacent plaza, and would have devoted even more, were it not for the construction. A must-see, as is the entirety of the Downtown Historic Area.

Nice old part of town. Plaza is used for a lot of events during the year. There are many shops and cafes surrounding it.

Such a nice square to wander in and people watch. I love to visit all the statues, but never seem to get a really good picture. Didn't get time to check if the dog's memorial is still there - hope it is.

I enjoy a once a week visit minimum. We residents of the Prescott area love our downtown with its tree filled courthouse square. At Christmas, it is aglow with lights and festivities. In summers, enjoy art fairs, Cinco de Mayo, 4th of July Rodeo Parade, the bandstand. Relax on a bench and people watch after breakfast, lunch, shopping, or dinner. It's all there surrounding the square. Allow plenty of time to explore. Parking is 2 hours around the square, but a parking garage is accessible on the street behind Whiskey Row, then you may walk through the decorated alley into rear entrances of one of many shops. If you enjoy historic buildings, buy some commerative stamps at the old Post Office with its terrazzo floors, painted ceiling and brass mail boxes. Each business is unique in some way, so take time to enter and explore.
