Granite Basin Loop Trails 345-347-348-350 and side trip to Indian Ruins

7.62 miles and a strenuous hike if you are with stronger hikers booking it. My fitness tracker said 14,768 steps, 12 floors climbed. Beautiful hiking trail and we saw evidence of horses and we encountered mountain bikers. My heart rate topped at 169 and I should take a rest at 154.

Interesting rugged hiking
Jul 2018 • Friends
This area is west of Prescott a few miles. There are a number of trail heads. Most of hiking is somewhat rugged, although it is a manageable set of trails. There are also some picnic areas. Terrain is juniper, mesquite, with some areas of water. Take hat and water with you as this is dry AZ. There are small mountains in area for more adventurous.

Hidden little retreat
Aug 2018
Just a few miles from downtown Prescott Arizona sits this forest getaway at the South foot of Granite Mountain. The area features a small lake,RV park, camping, and a full service cookout area with restrooms and grills. Hiking trials start in the parking area and lead into the mountains.

We took the Balancing Rock trail in Granite Basin
May 2018 • Friends
We started at Cayuse trailhead #349 returned on trail #261 and then to #351. Shade on this hike. My Vivosmart activity tracker said 12,644 steps, 4 miles, 35 floors climbed/40 descended. My other activity tracker said 6.23 miles 14,314 steps. Well whatever it was- it was a very nice enjoyable hike for an intermediate hiker.

Couples camping trip.

We had such a fantastic and relaxing time on our trip to Prescott! This was a great little get away that no one really knows about. The lake is about a mile hike down from the campground and is a beautiful trail. The lake is so amazing you would think you are in a picture! Can't wait to go back!

A very quiet a peaceful place to camp.
Apr 2017 • Solo
This was our first visit to the basin and stayed one night in the campground. it was very peaceful and the weather was perfect. The campground is small ( only 21 spots singles and a few doubles ), and is open all year. There is a small "lake" in the area with fishing for small mouth bass. No swimming allowed. This may not be an ideal place to be in the summer, but this time of year is perfect. Plenty of hiking, biking, and horse trails and nice views of Granite Mountain. Day use areas are available and there is no hunting.

Great hike
Aug 2016 • Couples
My first visit. Chose the trail around Little Granite Mountain. The hike was 7.2 miles in three stages using three different, well marked trails. Each segment is about 2+ miles. I took the trail thinking there would not be much elevation, wrong! I would guess approx. 1,000 feet in total. First phase is uphill, shady , and pleasant. Second section is tough. Much of the trail is recovering from a fire, many up and downs, exposed to sun. Third section is downhill, initially in forest then scrubb. For a 76 yr old it was a little more then I needed but still enjoyable. Go on a cool day, lots of water..j

Nice Trails but Not a lot of Shade so Beware of the Heat
Jun 2016 • Couples
We set out on Trail #350 from the first parking lot (bring $5 for the day pass) on one of the hottest days of summer but luckily we had enough water. We ended up doing a 3.5 mile loop in 1 hr 13 min, different from what we had first plotted, but gentle and sunny. Don't expect a lot of shade on the #350, #351 and #349 trails. The trail maps at various points are confusing and I was worried that we were going the wrong way a couple of times. We didn't see another sole on our hike and there were very few, if any, trail markers along the way, except at large intersections. I was probably just nervous because the temperature was rising and we were getting tired. The terrain was perfect for old knees and we were able to hike fast. Beautiful place. We didn't see the lake, though. By the time we were done we needed to get to a shower!
