If I could rethink last weekend...I should have said "No thank you".
Just to get out of town for a few hours and see the outdoors, we drove up to Prescott. We were, for the most part, the only people that cared about social distancing, wore any kind of face masks.
It was not worth the few hours spent in a town with visitors and locals "reckless in safety". My bad, for visiting at this time.

Love the downtown! Great artist show their talents in jewelry, art, sculpture, Lots of antique stores in a row! Good food everywhere you turn! Bills pizza is to die for! The town park is very pet friendly, leashed of course! Look for special dates that town has fairs. Always a family treat to see talent. Just minutes out of town are two casinos and more big name shopping! Lots to see in this beautiful area, you won’t be disappointed!

Nice looking area to walk around, but that was pretty much it. Good amount of restaurants to choice from. Large number of art galleries, but most have pieces that I can only imagine have been sitting for a bit given the very high prices. Not as many retail options that I expected. Okay for a short stroll, but definitely not an all day activity. Free [parking is a huge plus.

Was here on Mother's Day for the Fine Art and Chocolate Festival. Many Many cool booths with quality art and beautifully crafted items. Also had food booths serving all kinds of yummy things as well. The entire square was filled with activity and vendors. Esteban was playing and pitching his nearby shops and there was a cool vibe with folks out enjoying the beautiful day!!!

Such a wonderful feeling of small town middle America. The buildings are all so original and not a series of buildings cut from the same cookie cutter. The park in the middle of town is not something you see in today's cities. Just a lot of charm

Prescott is a very beautiful area to visit. We were very disappointed that the Christmas lights were lit up around sundown. When we went to walk the Square after dark to look at the lights, they were all off. It appears that the town decides to not light up the Square prior to the big parade on the Dec 5th. Not a good choice for those who could not visit then.

Cute historic place with a great selection of antique shops and art galleries. The building are straight out of the Wild West. We visited in the spring so the weather was unpredictable but it was green and beautiful. Worth stopping to have a snack and take a walk. We will be back.

We loved the downtown area around the court house and Whiskey Row. Lots of place to eat with some famous spots. We recommend the buffalo burger at the Palace Saloon (on whiskey row) which has a lot of history.

There's 2 hour (unmetered) street parking all around the courthouse, but a large public parking garage (free) is located just behind Whiskey Row. This garage is clean and monitored by cameras. I didn't see any drug addicts or homeless people as was posted by a previous reviewer. The entire historic district is very walkable, with plenty of shops, antique stores, and restaurants. Lots of bakeries and pizza shops to make you really hungry with the smells. Most shops require masks to be worn for Covid-19 protection, but some small shop owners seem to refuse to wear masks (and will let you know it).
My family had a good time for half the day exploring the area. I can definitely recommend the day trip if you've never been here before.

We have family in an adjoining town. We haven’t been here in a while so we thought we would walk around Courthouse Square. Motorcycle gangs driving full tilt. Folks sleeping rough. Bars leaking intoxicated patrons. A few new restaurants but mostly tourist traps and too much candy. Not picturesque. Not pleasant. Not what we would come back to see. Sad.

Are there fines for parking downtown for more than 2 hours on a weekend?

Yes, here's the scoop on the Prescott Resort and Conference Center
Not quite on the same scale as a California “resort’, but nice enough. It certainly has stunning sunrise and sunset views across Prescott and a wonderful patio where you can enjoy them with a cocktail if you’re so inclined. The rooms were cozy, comfortable and clean and I’m guessing that most have great views too. I ate a decent, inexpensive meal in the casino and was pleasantly surprised by the quality. (The casino restaurant has daily specials so it’s worth checking out the restaurant there compared to the “resort restaurant” if you don’t care about ambiance.) I was traveling solo and had been hiking all day so it was just fine with me.

Good question, although too many unknowns at this stage. I’d check out both the Prescott and Prescott Valley Chambers of Commerce for more info; they’ll give you a much better insight than I could offer. Further, the local area governments may have a process for tow truck operators and how they may become part of the bidding for any ordinance violation work. As far as a place to live, hard to beat this area for quality of life, clean air, nice folks, and all the things that smaller towns can offer, yet only 90 minutes from Phoenix if you need that. Wages are probably lower, as mentioned, and while housing is a tight market in this are for purchase or rental, with some good planning ahead those issues should even out. Cost of living in aggregate is probably favorable depending on your current location. If you’re serious, the best way to find out the facts is to plan a trip and make sure you see all the contacts needed to make an informed decision. Besides, what a great place to spend a few days (or more) anyway! Good luck as you wrestle with this.

I received a parking ticket across from the Square for 'parking outside the lines' yet there are no signs saying it's ILLEGAL and will cost $93.00 if you park outside the lines. Does Prescott expect to install signs or add notes to their website/TripAdvisor page noting that it's illegal to park on our outside of a parking line? I was ON the line not OUTSIDE the line yet received a $93.00 ticket.

Did you take a picture of your car to confirm this? I would take it to a judge because maybe you were between two cars that forced you to park this way and when they left, you looked like the culprit. Chamber of Commerce also should be informed.

If you can see only one or two attractions in Prescott what would they be?
Written February 15, 2016
If you only have a short time in Prescott the Corthouse Square and surrounding shops will give you the flavor of Prescott. Often on weekends in the summer local vendors and artists host an open air market. Stop at The Palace Restaurant to take a look at the pictures of old Prescott. Wyatt Earp actually ate here. The Lone Spur Cafe on the square is also historic and serves excellent breakfast and lunch. Around the corner is the Sharlot Hall Museum and Grounds that offers a glimpse into the history of Prescott and the area.
The Lake Watson area is a beautiful place to take a short nature walk or a longer hike through the dells.
Jerome and Sedona are definitely full days each.
