Cabaret was fantastic
Jan 2020 • Friends
This is a beautiful facility. We sat in the Loge with great views of Cabaret and the most comfortable chairs. We enjoyed our drinks from the bar. Looking forward to the next performance.

Cabaret
Jan 2020 • Couples
Normally I’m a Herberger fan. Come a lot. But this production of CABARET was the sleaziest yet. We left in disgust at intermission

Lunch Time Theatre is nice
Nov 2019
Nice way to get a 1-hour exposure to a potential up and coming dance or theatre group -- Lunch Time Theatre typically in the very small Kax Theatre. You can make reservations (although seats are general admission, but never crowded) and can pre-order lunch from TLC Cafe (Tom & Lin Catering). Lovely salads and sandwich boxes with fresh fruit & chips (with sandwiches) and a large cookie for only $8 -- including a non-alch drink. The chicken salad with cashews & grapes on croissant was excellent; the turkey with avocado, cucumber, tomato, lettuce & basil aioli was yummy. The cookie was totally unexciting, but it was a cookie. ;-)

We saw "One Scene Wonders" in Shakespeare's plays -- interesting, with 2 highly energetic actors, but not up to Herberger standards.

Still, we've previously seen lunch time versions of Snow Queen ballet and were mesmerized. So, it's always worth $7 to see what's showing.

Little temple of arts
Sep 2019 • Couples
This is a very nice center city Phoenix theater, walking distance from many hotels and Convention Center. Attention grabbing sculpture garden is located in front of the Herberger Theater Center and serves as an invitation to explore more. There is also some art on display inside. They are celebrating 30th anniversary season.

Nice
May 2019 • Family
The venue is small and intimate. It’s nice inside and easy to see from all angles. The lighting was good too. I was very, VERY impressed with how on point the actors were. They were basically flawless.

The play was geared toward kids and probably a little long for the age group I was with but that’s life.

Be aware that there are several statues out in front of the building which depict nude performers in various exposed positions. I didn’t care but some parents freaked! So, just be aware in case this may be an issue for you and your family.

Lovely Venue
May 2019 • Couples
The Herberger is in a great location in downtown Phoenix. It is modern and lovely, with a sculpture garden outside, and a small art gallery on the balcony level. It is rather small and intimate. Friends gave us tickets in the rear balcony (we generally prefer orchestra seats) but we were not disappointed as we had a great view and could hear quite well. There probably isn't a bad seat in the house. A beautiful venue. Parking is the only issue, there are several lots nearby, minimum cost is $10, to $20, but they are quite crowded and it takes awhile to depart.

What a venue!

Beautiful and intimate. Attracts top professionals (but generally a half notch below LA and NYC). Don’t miss it.

Theater, ballet, concerts in the heart of downtown Phoenix
Mar 2019 • Solo
There are two theaters here, and the larger features touring companies of Broadway and classic plays and musicals. All seats are good and performances are treasured by Phoenicians. Tickets are a bargain, usually about $75 at the top range. A run was just completed of August Wilson’s “Two Trains Running,” with a cast as fine as you would see on Broadway.

Good venue
Jan 2019 • Couples
A traditional theatre for plays. Good sight lines and nice atmosphere. Lobby is bright, but limited access to bar and food.

Located in Central Phoenix, pay parking available nearby. Meter parking is limited to 2 hours so you take a chance in a ticket
