What an amzaing experience! My wife and I were able to take the kids for a pony ride around the grounds in the morning, then that night we went on the tbone steak sunset dinner ride. The whole experience is worth every penny and definitely worth every second. The wranglers are experienced and know the horses well. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to the area, and extremely helpful if your someone who isnt as comfortable on a horse. The view and experience was the best weve had in a very long time well needed and def going to be going again soon. If you want to forget your in the city this is the thing to do. Takes you into the back hills of South Mountain where you get to see the wildlife up close and expreince a little piece of what folks did before the histle and bussle of the big city.

5 Stars - This was how we celebrated New Years Eve and it was phenomenal. The manager was wonderful and we were able to add extra guests to our reservation with a simple call. He is very personable. The horses were all well maintained.

To be riding a horse through the desert under a full moon is breathtaking. All of us including the 4 young adults (19-22) really appreciated the calm cool beauty of the night and the connection to nature. To be on a horse in the chill of night made me reflect my great grandparent journey from Missouri to Wyoming in the early 1900’s.

We did the T-Bone ride so dinner was included at a local steakhouse where we literally got to ride up to and tie up our horses and then ride back to the stables after!!! The server was nice but unfortunately I think they were short staffed and the food took long and was over cooked, but the stable had no control over this and the guides said the food was good most of the time.

My wife and I wanted a memorable horse ride that gave us a taste of the 'Real West' during our vacation. The 'T-Bone Steak Ride' didn't disappoint. We had an awesome evening riding in the dark with well trained and safety conscious guides who made the trip more enjoyable. The view of the entire city of Phoenix at night coming down the mountain was amazing. The restaurant we ate at was exactly the experience we were looking for. I highly recommend this for beginner to experienced riders as it's something you can't easily duplicate in many parts of the country.

Great trip with my older kids riding horses at an affordable price. Staff was super friendly and helpful. I would recommend the Sunset ride as we saw extraordinary views, lighting was great, with wildlife darting in and out. It all combine for a great trip. The horses know the trail well, and were perfectly behaved.

We took the night ride to the T-bone steakhouse. This was my first time on a horse and we also had our 8yo daughter with us. I felt safe the whole time, the horses are very well trained and follow each other, perfect for first time or inexperienced riders.

The sun was setting as we left and the view of the mountain and scenery was breathtaking. The ride also offers great views of the city at night.

We had a great time and would do another ride if we come back.

The horses are beautiful animals and obviously well cared for and loved. The terrain on the walking trail is gorgeous. I recommend the 7 am trail ride because it’s very serene and beautiful as you watch the sunrise. The ranch hands are very personable and knowledgeable and make sure that you have a safe and enjoyable ride! Highly recommended! C.J.

The staff was wonderful, we were treated like friends from the start. Very personable, shared their experiences with us and answered all of our questions. Made sure we were all safe the whole ride. Entertained our 7 year old while treating her like a "big kid" and making sure she was safe so mom and dad could enjoy the ride too. We had a party of 7 and all of us had an amazing time. Can't say enough good things about this place!

Great way to start the day - a tranquil ride through South Mountain Park.

Very helpful AND PATIENT staff, especially with someone from NYC who is just a wee bit concerned around horses (I mean they are pretty big). Four of us for the morning ride. Staff actually made sure we were paired with a good horse. Helped us get in the saddle, very clear instructions and always watching out for the horses (and us) as we rode on the trails.

Lovely scenery, pretty easy ride at a slow pace. Maybe could have gone a little faster but it was already over 90F at the start and only got hotter. The right speed given the weather.

And extra kudos to the entire staff. Ended at 10:30AM and we were the last group for the day. An excellent policy - Too Hot= NO MORE RIDES. And one in the group started to feel the heat, maybe early onset heat exhaustion. They got us all back to the stables, got into a cool room, got rehydrated and cooled down. No rush and went out of the way to make sure everyone was fine before they let us leave.

We took the T-Bone trail ride and dinner experience. The gentleman that signed us in was friendly and very funny, that started our trip out very nicely. The young staff that hoisted all of us up on our perfectly matched horses, were patient and so very encouraging. As the sun went down, the full moon appeared and lit our ride like a beacon shining our way through the night. The wranglers that accompanied us, were very informative as to how we were to handle different situations and informative with any questions we had. We arrived at the T-Bone restaurant and all sixteen of us were welcomed with open arms. The menus was simple and so delicious. After almost two hours at the restaurant, our wranglers hoisted us back up on our horses and off we went. The ride back to the barn took us up over the mountain. The night was cool and the horses had a little more gitty up in their step. On the way back we experienced some coyotes close by, howling at the moon. Our wranglers scared them off, and on we went. They kept us safe every step of the way. Honestly I wasn’t sure what to expect going on a “nose to tail” trail ride, but this experience was so exhilarating that we will definitely be back to do it again. Even after all the rides they give, day after day, the staff treats you with utmost respect and kindness. Thank you!!!

Ponderosa Stables wasn't our first choice, but the first choice never returned our call. The only reason Ponderosa wasn't our first choice was that at this time they were only offering one hour rides, My wife is an experienced rider and we were hoping for a longer ride.

At any rate, we thoroughly enjoyed our ride through the scenic Arizona desert. Bailey was a great wrangler, engaging with all the riders, pointing out the scenery and points of interest and demonstrating her amazing horsemanship skills.

We will definitely be back for the dinner ride next time we are in Phoenix.
