We drove from Chicago to Santa Monica on the old Route 66, and this drive was part of that drive. We enjoyed driving through the scenic Oatman road and Sitgreaves Pass. You do have to concentrate because it is a very winding road with huge...More

This is an interesting road through the desert landscape along old Rt 66. Watch for the burros/donkeys walking the road --left over from the prospectors of long ago. This trip allows the visitor to experience what travel was through this area before the interstates were...More

The road is rough. you must keep your attention and really drive carefully; but; it sure was a fun ride. You have to think of what it was like in the days gone by to be on this trail.

Beautiful scenery but I was scared to death the whole time. Hairpin turns, no guardrails and huge drop offs. I was thinking we’d die at any moment. Glad that we only met 2 other vehicles on this ride.

I have to laugh as I read the comments of others who have driven this road. This is one of the best desert drives I have taken in years. There are signs posted telling drivers that vehicle lengths are limited to 40 feet. And it's...More

This is a great spot on a great drive from Kingman, AZ to Oatman, Az. At mile marker 30, we managed to find the obscure Fish Bowl Springs and took numerous pix. The drive is nothing harrowing compared to the white-knuckle producers in the Rockies....More

You may need to rest a while at the top to settle your nerves that you jangled on the way up! Once you reach the top the views are wonderful in both directions. The ride down is pretty exciting too!

We drove this route to Oatman and boy was it a little hairy! The hairpin turns and steep cliffs off some areas of the roads! I had To close my eyes a few times. Unfortunately we weren't on the inside of the road but the...More

Can you imagine driving this road during the height of Route 66 travel? No Mc Donalds here; no gas stations; and probably no air conditioning in your car! Many hairpin turns and lots of great views of mountains and deserts. If you have the time,...More

I am unsure of where you are headed for in the Grand Canyon, but Oatman appears to be out of the way as Oatman is halfway between Kingman and the CA border. From the Grand Canyon you could head south toward I-40 and... More
