Enjoy the view that Robert would have enjoyed all those years ago. Imagine taking tea while watching the windjammers sailing into sight and the excitement of the mail being brought from far off lands. Take the time to reflect on his comforts of home, and...More

It would be hard to visit Apia in Wester Samoa without a visit to this well-known place. Donated to the government of Samoa, it has been kept in wonderful condition. A short tour with a well informed guide gave a good insight into the relatively...More

Robert Louis Stevenson's former home in Vailima, Samoa is now a museum dedicated to the later years of his life. Drive up Cross Island Rd until you see an imposing long fence-line of ornate cream concrete posts fringing the roadside. Turn into the huge iron...More

We visited RLS Museum as part of our day trip to Apia - and it was the hilight! Tremendous time capsule, immaculately kept, and fantastic / knowlegable young museum tour guide

the story of R.L. Stevenson is awesome and know where he spent so many years of his life and see the museum home is very interesting. It's about 5 km uphill. Worth it.

We did the shorter but steeper track and I’d definitely avoid that. I can’t speak for the other track. Another family we met said that this track was also a little challenging as it had been raining for a week leaving it... More

You can pay by cash in tala or Foreign currency (US dollars, AUD, NZD) We do have an Eftpos machine however, the line connection is sometimes a problem. The walk from the ship to the Museum will be maybe an hour. Depending... More

It is quite a hike up to the grave and can be very slippery when wet. I agree with the previous comments that perhaps a visit to the museum would be sufficient, I wouldn't recommend the walk to the grave site.
